Exodus - The Atrocity Exhibition guitar tone

Its all in the playing, ive heard Lee play through the Savage, XXX and Boogie Mark 3 and they all have that Exodus pick attack which is rife on that album.

Yeah there's gotta be a lot in the hands. I'm afriad it would be a hard tone to get even if you were sitting with the amp they used! My XXX has never sounded like that. haha

Yeah, you gotta mute closer to the neck than usual for a start.

If you listened to anything other than what you want to hear, you would understand that if Gary Holt or Lee Altus plugged into the 8505 or any other amp or amp sim it would still sound like Exodus due to the fact that a lot of tone comes from their palm muting position and pick attack, among many other things. So in short, yes it's possible, no you won't get the magic preset to make the 8505 or any other amp sound like Exodus.

Another good percentage of "guitar tone" comes from the way it's blended with the bass tone. Guitars don't chunk by themselves.

Thats what I said

Thank you guys!Nuno we like to make a cover of a War Is My Sheppard just to see how it will sound so can you give me info what you've used for drums(kick, snare, toms samples) and guitars(what ampsim, impulses, post production info)? Thanks!

Some of it has to with how you palm mute. However if you can adjust your mid range frequency low it will narrow your attack sound and give you that bite. I know they use home brew electronics pedals for boost and that can be a large factor in that.

theforgotten, it looks more like everyone understood what you were saying and you didn't understand or like their answers. Pay closer attention or don't bother.

try a large narrow spike at 93K

I have been using Exodus tone as a benchmark lately.
