Well Orfanos.... After a thorough listen to the Exoristoi CD - while commuting to work , I made the following notes...

The biggest flaw I found is the band seems to lack direction. They do not seem fixed on what they want to accomplish and that lack of focus seems to have made this album difficult listening.

I think It's great for the band to include a variety of material but I'm unable to find their signature sound or unique style that might have made this ablum a bit easier to appreciate.

There are a couple real attention getters on this disc - The first song 'Tomb Of Doom' is a very good multi-paced metal song but it basically ends there for me. 'Ronin' is a good hard rock song which seems to highlight the bands abilities but I find it to be way too similar to Deep Purple's 'You Fool No One' to give it any real merit. 'Exoristoi & The Book Of Sorrows' is another decent track but nothing too memorable.

All in all - it's not a bad album & many might appreciate it but it just doesn't do anything for me. Perhaps the band was attempting to appeal to the international market by trying to cover a variety of sounds but I find them uninteresting and non committed. It surprises me they've been around so long and haven't developed their own sound.

I'm far more impressed with Greece's Battleroar, Marauder (Especially the CD 'Life') Wolfcry & Elwing.

Thank you very much for the brief review. As I see, the album has nothing better from what I expected...

The band was inactive for many years, as guitar player and main composer Demetris Katis was focused in cinema music. The new line up and the release of this album was a surprise, so it is not strange that Exoristoi seem to lack direction.

At the past, Exoristoi played heavy metal with epic/lyrical elements and I find their first album really great (although it is not highly appreciated by the majority of my com-patriots).

If you like to take a taste, just download one of the best songs of their first album: ---> Synora Pantou
I remind you that lyrics are in greek (I guess that you haven't listened something like that before).

Thanks for the link - Now that's the kind of stuff they should have written for the album I bought. Might be the first time I've heard Greek vocals but I find them very listenable. Gonna keep my eyes open for this CD. Sounds like something I'd like.

Wow, to be honest, I didn't expect that you would tolerate the greek lyrics. The music is really very good, of course. :D

The first Exoristoi album has been rereleased on CD some years ago from Unisound Records but is getting rare. I think it's still available in some underground heavy metal e-shops. I have the vinyl version which it's almost impossible to find nowdays. But if you try, you don't know.

Anyway, I have uploaded four more songs from the legendary first Exoristoi LP, for everyone else who got interested in this band from all that we are talking about in this thread. They are in very low bitrate because I found them so, at a greek site (as I said I own the vinyl and I don't know if I can rip it).

Iaches Thriamvou
Doxa Kai Timi
Varvares Fones
To Spathi Tou Nikiti

PS: As I know, "Doxa Kai Timi" is included in "Wrath of Zeus" with new, english lyrics and title ("Seven Maenads"). Also, the song "Exoristoi & the Book of Sorrows" that appears in the new CD, was the ending track of the first LP (in greek, with the title "Exoristoi").

Wow, most excellent vocals. Actually I was expecting something much more heavy and epic, but I like the acoustic driven song a lot. And the outro/solo is very, very good.

The intro to 'Doxa Kai Timi' is fabulous, pure classic rock, and this one is heavier, excellent stuff indeed.

I suppose the band's music is unavailable in CD format and/or OOP?

The only greek album from Exoristoi that is available on CD, is the first one which is also the only one that is really good. It has been rereleased by Unisound some years ago. It's OOP now, but it can be found, although is getting very rare.
