expressionist composing

Without noticing the title I immediately thought it was a Debussy piece, until I saw it was Ravel. They were tight anyway. Impressionist stuff is pretty cool. It always feels "airy" and "light" yet pretty dense at the same time. Composition wise anyway. Nice find though.

Expressionism is a term associated with Schoenberg, Bern and Webern...the Second Viennese School.

This is an impressionistic piece. Ravel, Debussy and Mussorgsky are composers of this style. Impressionism is one of my favorite styles. Funny that Debussy actually disliked the term impressionism being applied to his music.
