EZDrummer

Thanks mate, I had to back off the compressor on the drum buss because the kick was pumping in and out all over the shop. So If i use more compression on the snare/kick then use quite a bit of makeup that will make a difference?

Ive got the cymbals panned hard as they will go. Hats are 40%.

I like advice :)

On that mp3 there was no compression on either the snare or the kick. Ive nailed the snare, sounds a lot better, however the compressor on the kick sounds terrible, its lost all its beef and scooped balls, its just a high pitched click :\

Ive made another version, updates being....

Compressed snare a lot (I like)
Compressed kick moderately
Put Rcomp on the room mic set to *pump* ajusted to taste. (cheers machine)
Compressed the drum bus more
Added a stero imager to the drum bus in curiosity to Gavs post :p Tbh I dont notice a lot of difference besides slightly more "reverb" to the mix.

I think I might have to lower the room mic a tad.

I like it better than the first clip.

Agree or disagree?

For metal be careful with the room mic. I would compress them pretty hard.. for our hits, we used either stereo 1176s or stereo Distressors with brit mod, knock them so they have a bit of a pump. BUT, to make sure your kick stays tight, you might want to knock off some sub lows, like hi pass them at 150Hz.

Yeah I agree, ive compressed it resulting with some pump but not loads. I might even need to do it a tad more because its not that noticeable. As I said I think ive got too much roomyness ambience on that clip Ive just posted. But I could be wrong.
