Faggy Core

Sounds good, sounds good.. but the high end, as some have mentioned before, makes me want to stop listening after a few minutes, it strains the ears a lot!

Look into that and what will remain is a great mix!

Ok guys. This is about to be sent to a bunch of record labels, via the band.. Before they do this, I need to know: Is the overall hi end in the mastering stage the problem, or is it just in the vocals?

I only really heard it in the vocals, now that I listen to it. I've lowered the hi shelf on them, but when I throw the mix into an analyzer, it's pretty flat on the hi end spectrum, so is that what you guys mean?? The vocals have too much highs? I do agree with that.

Ok dudes.

In this master, I brought down the highs a bit (I noticed that 4K was sounding pretty harsh), lowered the hi shelf on the vocals, and did a little low end sculpting.. How's this sound? Better?

^^ Much better man, you need a little more presence above 4k now though I think. It affected your guitar tone the most!

Also, you'd be surprised how much "perceived"/artificial presence that a bump at 400 Hz will give you using Pod Farm tones.

Oh trust me, I know!

That's the one thing I absolutely ALWAYS do with ampsims is cut a bit of 4K.. It sounds so gross..

I FULLY agree, and the Pod's amps especially have TERRIBLE 4k, and pretty much anything above that to be honest though haha, but 4k is terrible.

And I dunno what it is about 400 Hz (other than being close to fundamental A, 440 Hz), but it really makes a guitar shine in a mix. Makes the tone sound strange when solo'd but really beefs the clarity in a mix.

Sounds great though, loving the drums. Snare compression is a bit heavy but those drums are fantastic overall.

Yeah, i've tried after and it took a little too much out for my liking. An extremely narrow, massive cut beforehand seemed to only remove the digital-ness of the sims.

Edit: Actually, just tried it after. Seems to leave a little more character of the amp intact. I think i may like that better
