If you haven't heard already, Dallas based band Fair To Midland hit a road bump on their westward tour over the weekend when their 15 passenger bus rolled into the Arizona desert (about 9 times) after blowing a tire. Needless to say, their bus was completely demolished, and one of the band members was air-lifted to the hospital (he's doing fine now). Plus all of their equipment on board was destroyed.

There are a few benefit shows lined up which will hopefully recoup some of the losses of the accident (medical bills, equipment, new bus) So here's what you can do:

Come out to The Boiler Room Thursday, February 4, 2010 for the Fair To Midland Benefit Show featuring Fair To Midland, Trebuchet and Nothing More. This show is going to be awesome and all proceeds will go to Fair To Midland's "keep on rocking fund".

Glad they're okay obviously, but it sucks about their gear. If I lived in Texas I'd be going to some of those shows.

Damn, that truly sucks. I wish them luck...they're an excellent live band and I fully intend to see them live again.

Not a good time for bands/tours...... A friends' band recently returned from their European tour, landed at NYC JFK, drove to a restaurant in Brooklyn for some quick sushi...and their van was professionally broken-into and completely emptied in the 10-15 minutes they were inside. 6 laptops, "countless" iPods, all the proceeds from their successful tour, personal belongings, stage gear, everything. They think it will take 6 months to a year to get their career back on the rails. :(

(For the curious, it's the gothic/darkwave band The Cruxshadows.)

I think I heard about that with CruxShadows, a band I 1st heard their name when you told that story about missing-seeing them at DragonCon (for Spock's Beard).

But that story about lost gear, happened twice to another band I really like, Kaddisfly. And stolen vans happen too..Men, Women and Children had theirs stolen a few years ago.

I guess it helps to insure and backup everything. And especially in a city you've never been to before, keep an eye as best you can on your things. Don't leave shit in your hotel room, etc.

but with this, a popped tire and suddenly the whole van goes tumbling on it's side. Rather random and unplanned for. The 1 time that happened to me I recall, I was able to pull over without having my car collide with anything or anyone.

Are there any other ways to help them out with donations or anything? Just saw them for my birthday on the 6th and it was probably the best out of the four times I've seen them. Definitely willing to help them get out on the road again, but making it to Texas just isn't happening.

i also was there for zed's b-day! they were amazing... sad to hear about this incident, and the bad news with the gear and all... im glad everyone is ok though, that's what matters.

a bit more on it. a slide reel, paypal link and little more on those 2 shows are there.

As you've probably heard, we were recently in a serious accident on I-10 just west of Phoenix. Our vehicle, trailer and a lot of our gear are completely destroyed. Fortunately everyone involved escaped relatively unharmed. We are currently accepting donations of any size in order to replace what was lost.

Our sincerest thanks to everyone who has shown such tremendous support. We love you guys.

Missed them completely in favor of Spock's Beard, who were terrific in front of an audience of about 70 people....meanwhile, the Cruxshadows were playing a song and dedicating it to me. Oooops.

Hell, Dream Theater had their entire TOUR-BUS stolen once. :OMG:
