Hey, I've been lurking around this forum for a month or so, but didn't really want to join because I actually didn't own an Opeth album (*gasp*!) Anyway, I bought Still Life (along with Pink Floyd's Meddle) the other week and I'm very impressed.

...Now that that's out of the way, I was talking to a friend of mine about a band called Fantomas. I checked allmusic, and they seem pretty good (Delirium Cordia sounds like it would be awesome), but I was just wondering what your opinions were.

Fantomas is garbage. The kind of thing you listen to so you can tell other people you listen to it and they can be impressed.

in my opinion: unlistenable.
I only know the first album, though. it's fun for like ten minutes, then it gets annoying. it's impressive what Patton can do with his voice though (imo)

the first album is really weird and entertaining (taken in small doses). it's worth checking out at least. if you enjoy that one, you might also like the director's cut.

Patton is a genius and Fantômas is just as amazing as any of his other projects.

I recommend Director's Cut and Suspended Animation.

seems like Fantômas has certain novelty moments and that's about it

I've come to find out I've pretty much disliked everything Patton-related that I've heard thus far except for 5 or so Mr. Bungle songs

Getting through Delirium Cordia is an exercise in mental fortitude. IMO it doesn't go anywhere and doesn't take advantage of Mike Patton's talent.
