Fast hardcore band. Went for a kurt ballou kind of mix. Decapitator on everything.

I got this song off of that The 'Mixing Secrets' Free Multitrack Download Library.
I had a go at mixing it. All the drums are natural. The guitars are lepou sims. I used Decapitator on almost everything lol. Anyone have any tips for improvement?

snare and kick need more punch less low end. the bass needs more compression and presence vocals need more compression as well to get them upfront

i kinda like the kick less present in this kinda mix. makes it more real sounding. snare needs a bit more attack/highend. agree with vocals need to be a bit more upfront.

I agree with the snare needing more attack/high end. The problem is that there is crazy hi hat bleed in the snare track. it's hard to make the snare as present as i want without making the hats too harsh. :/ How do i deal with that kind of situation?

Sounds pretty good! For the snare, try using a transient designer with the attack ms set really low.
