Favorite album release of 08'?

apart from Mirror Of Souls, mmmm, a lot of albums were released in 2008....\

Amaseffer - Slaves For Life
Becoming The Archetype - Dichotomy
Opeth - Watershed
Harmony - Chapter II Aftermath
Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls

Amazing albums and beautiful........in their own way XD

Hmmm, there was recently a Top 5 of 2008 thread over in the ProgPower forums. There I said:

Helloween - Gambling With The Devil
Avian - Ashes And Madness
Theocracy - Mirror of Souls
Orden Ogan - Vale
Scorpions - Humanity: Hour I

I threw in a few late-2007 ones, because I got them in 2008 and the bands toured on them in 2008.

If I had to pick one that's not Theocracy....very tough....I'll go with Helloween's Gambling With The Devil because it's the CD that finally got me into Andi Deris-era Helloween. Now that this one hooked me, I've been able to go back and finally fall in love with the previous ones that never did it for me before (such as Master of the Rings, Dark Ride, and Time of the Oath). It took me a loooong time to enjoy any Helloween without Kiske singing....

That Helloween/Gamma Ray tour last year was one of the most amazing things I've attended!

My top 5 would look like something like this:

1. Seventh Wonder -- Mercy Falls
2. Suspyre -- When Time Fades
3. Communic -- Payment of Excistence
4. Tomorrows Eve -- Tales from Serpentia
5. Andromeda -- The Immunity Zone

My top ten list of 2008 is as follows. I found it a tough choice as there were a lot that missed out but the easy part was the number 1 slot which rightfully belongs to Theocracy.

1. Theocracy - Mirror Of Souls
2. Judas Priest - Nostradamus
3. Opeth - Watershed
4. Equilibrium - Sagas
5. Sabaton - The Art Of War
6. Brother Firetribe - Heart Full Of Fire
7. Forefather - Steadfast
8. Asia - Phoenix (not metal but I love these guys)
9. Serenity - Fallen Sanctuary
10. Black Stone Cherry - Folklore & Superstition (again, not metal but very catchy album)

Other close contenders came from Power Quest, Dragonforce, Avantasia, Bloodbath, Amon Amarth, AC/DC, Moonspell, Uriah Heep, Sarah Brightman (unusual choice I know), Journey, Bob Catley and Dignity. Haven't heard the Harmony album yet unfortunately....at the top of my list to buy though.

For me, just two albums:

- Mirror of Souls
- The I Heart Revolution by Hillsong United

I absolutely love Hillsong United, right now I only have music by Theocracy and them on my mp3 player.

Testament - The Formation of Damnation

Yeah, that was freaking amazing.

I'd say Gambling With the Devil, Ultra Beatdown, Among Beggars and Thieves, and (of course) Mirror of Souls.

... wow I'm a powerfreak. :p
I saw the Hellish Rock tour stop at the ProgPowerUSA IX fest in ATL last year! Manticora opened. What a great show that was!:headbang::kickass::worship:

Mirror of souls by a large margin.

One of my top 3 favourite discs of all time. I can´t thank the band enough for the listening joy it has brought me :)
