Favorite Composers!

My knowledge on Composers are very limited. But I havn't really heard anything that I dislike.

Although the symphonies and long pieces from the Romantic Period bore the shit out of me. I'd much rather listen to something from the Baroque or Classical period.

My favorites

Vivaldi
Mozart
Beethoven
Chopin
Phillip Glass
Brahms
Paganinni
Bach
Haydn

Yeah...just a few that i've listen to.

alot of people find some of the excessive music of the romantic and late romantic periods dull at first... it takes some work to get into it but it becomes quite rewarding. overrall i'd say the romantic and modern are my favorite era's and my least fav's would be the baroque and classical simply for the fact that so much of it is indistinguishable.

I have just been getting into classical recently. Some of my favorite composers:

Stravinsky (typical I know, but The Rite of Spring is absolutely phenomenal)
Dvorak
Mahler (9th in particular, though I need to hear more of his stuff)
Shostakovich
Yann Tiersen
Holst
Beethoven
Chopin

In general I am liking Romantic and Modern stuff the most, as they seem more interesting musically than most 'classical' era works.

I've been listening to lots of Vaughan Williams, Grieg, Holst and Sibelius the past week or so. Classical is second best only to ambient for writing. :>
