Favorite Drum Performances

I always find myself air drumming when ever I listen to Moby Dick my Led Zeppelin. Also Seasons of the abyss (Slayer), Pure evil (Iced Earth), Rat salad (Black Sabbath), The pilgrim (Iron Maiden) and Invisible (Dio).

Tjodalv's performance on Spiritual Black Dimensions has been my favorite of Dimmu's drummers. I guess you could throw in Hellhammer on the new Stormblast, too.

Chris Adler - Ashes of The Wake

:kickass:

Chris Adler always makes me want to drum along, and I'm a freaking guitar player. He's got massive speed, and more importantly, taste. He's obsessed with fitting the drum parts into the songs that are written. I think that his work on "As the Palaces Burn" and "Sacrament" are superior to Ashes, even though that album has better songwriting all-around.

Call me a pussy, but I love Tommy Lee's [of Motley Crue] drum solo from the "Dr. Feelgood" tour, I have a bootleg recording of it on my computer. I also love Alex Van Halen's work on "Hot For Teacher" and anything by Buddy Rich. And Glen Holgan. Glen Holgan is amazing.

Tomas Corn (Lykathea Aflame) is awesome too, super fast but flavorful too.
Can't stand the metallic drum sound. Just pisses me off. Too bad, because it is great drumming.

I have to agree with Faust on ITNE.

"Slaves Shall Serve" is always a choice (thanks to Inferno).

The drumming on most of the Bathory albums is really good (mostly it was just Quorthon doing it himself, sometimes studio musicians). Really simple, but fits the music perfectly. Best would be Hammerheart.

Nicko McBrain is a great drummer on pretty much everything. Steve Travis kicked ass on Painkiller. Amon Amarth's drummer (Ted Lungstrom, I think...) is also pretty good, especially on Fate Of Norns.

Well...taking LoG's records which he's made...

Ashes > Gospel > Sacrament > Palaces

Ashes is the least technical, but I feel that it compliments the music so much more. Blood of The Scribe and Now You've Got Something To Die For...wow.
I love what he does on Walk With Me In Hell also. The double bass work is amazing.
I also love how he blasts on one song that I can recall, thats A Warning off Gospel ,apart from that I don't think he ever has blasted.

Frost on 1349's cover of Buried By Time And Dust

Yeah it's a blast pretty much the whole way through but it's insanely fast compared to the original.

Anything Inferno does...

Flo on None So Vile

I like Wormed's drumming as well...

Death - The Sound Of Perseverence has nice drumming too.
