Who's your favorite vocalist that most people seem to hate with a passion? My pick is Attila. He sounds like a twisted opera singer, and for some odd reason his vocals add to the atmosphere of De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas for me, and he's pretty good in Aborym. I have yet to check out Tormentor though.

maybe Eric Adams from Manowar...
almost everyone hates Manowar although they have influenced lots and lots of the nowadays bands, and every member of these bands respects them ....
and Eric had the top supreme crystal voice ....
it is fashionable to say smthing bad about Manowar ..oh well ..

Dani Filth. Everybody hates his voice... I like it and think it fits perfectly to their music and is unique and versatile. I think most people just hear the shreaking and are put off by it and never give the band a proper chance.

@IO: Eric Adams is IMO one of the best (non-growling) metal singers there is. Never heard anyone saying that it's bad (at least on albums, I've heard not so fine comments about his gig performances)

Andre Matos (ex-Angra). I love his voice, but I know a lot of people who don't.

Tony Martin (ex-Black Sabbath). I think a lot of people disliked him on principle. I thought he was a great studio singer, and Headless Cross and Eternal Idol are a couple of my favorite Sabbath albums.

John Arch (ex Fates Warning). I can certainly understand that some people dislike the upper-register singers. I thought he was very melodic and dynamic and is a very big reason why I'm such a huge fan of early Fates Warning.

John Greely (ex-Iced Earth). Sang on "Night of the Stormrider", one of my top three albums of all time, let alone the best thing Iced Earth has ever done.

Not my fav. but lots of ppl don't like Alexi's voice, which I think is good. Dani's voice is okay. Too bad his ego is so big and their music quality seems to decline as it grows. Dusk was his best work for sure....

i'd say dani filth also...his vocals make half the music what it is...if he didnt use his voice like that..(and he does more than just the shrieking)...well then wouldnt it be like any other black metal band?

everything before cruelty and the beast (especially principle made evil flesh [???]) is the best from them...

i do have to say that the singer from Kreator sucks....blah...i liked the riffs and all until the vocals got in....ugh...

Mike Patton, mostly because stupid internet fan boys and girls ruined it for him. Personally, I think he's fantastic.
