Favourite early 90s Seattle band...

1) AIC
2) Soundgarden
3) Nirvana

Smashing Pumpkins did get lumped into the grunge movement sometimes, but then again, when grunge hit its peak, EVERYTHING was grunge. So if you conisder SP to be grunge I would put them at number 1.

Well, SP wasn't grunge. That was a real misplacement...

Also, they're not from Seattle. I'm pretty sure they're from Chicago. ;)

Whoops :)

I didn't notice the thread was just about Seattle. I agree, SP wasn't grunge, but it wasn't far off. They were my favorite band at the time, which is why I thought of them when I thought of all the grunge bands.

Actually, most bands which were considered 'grunge' were not REALLY grunge. It was all hype.

Yeah, there are similarities, of course, but they're still two different animals, hehe.

A funny thing about the not really being grunge thing. The drummer of AIC always talks about how AIC was originally a glam band and then wore flannel at their record company's suggestion.

Very true,

So it looks like a tie between AIC and SG.
