Heya,

I'm mixing this band's album, really cool vibe!

EDIT:

Remixed and did a more tailored Mastering! I was being too careful when mixing this for some reason when Im usually very aggressive on my approach so today I just decided to fuck it and go for my usual thing and I think it resulted much better. Keen to hear some opinions please!

95% finished!

Cheers!

guitars are alittle thin also im not sure what a mastering limiter will do to the mix. maybe you could up the mix at least to -12 db.

overall - nice ! drums are nice and real, not too thick sounding. i like the vocal mixing! what did you use to widen them like that?

I'll up the mix to about -12dB because when taht happens everything should gel a bit more together, get a bit more concised. The raw guitar tone is HORRIBLE, I have about 10 cuts, it's not even funny... the fuckign workaround I had to do to make it sound acceptable. Thanks for the words dude :)

About the vocals, there's five layers of vocals on the chorus, that and a nice touch of delay, nothing fancy really, straight up simple :)

Guys I don't mean to sound like a bitch, I know it's not deathcore or something but I would really like some people's thoughts and perspective for some guidance, if that's too much to ask .. : l

listening here on crappy speakers... I don't hear anything overly crappy...

I might personally bring the overall level of the vocal down maybe 1db to seat it better in the mix... that just a preference, though...

maybe try to make the "acoustic" guitar sound warmer?

other than that, man, it sounds good...

It sounds really really well, and not only because of the mixing, which I like a lot, but also because of the composition.

I really like the sound you got on the snare, and fits a lot the band´s style.

Reminds me a little of the darker Lullacry.

Thansk a lot for the comments. I do believe the snare is just ever so slightly more scooped than I want, should just be a couple of dbs less IMO. I've thought about turning the vocals down just really really sligthly, but I do like vocal centered mixes and wanted to have such a great voice like this upfront hooking it, although I think just 0.5 or 1dB less should put it in the sweet spot

Gtrs sound a little too up front to me, also sounds like it could do with some more carving in the 3-800hz area and could perhaps go down a touch. I just found they distracted me a touch from the vocal.

I would still have the gtrs lower in the mix and perhaps try and push them a little wide. Still feeling it's clouding the vocal and drums a bit too much.

I know, I also hate artificial widening. Perhaps lower them in the mix a touch. I've not done this before, but maybe some m/s eq on the Gtr bus with a wide dip in the centre channel in the mids where the vocal is hanging. Reamping out of the question I'm guessing.

Unfortunately yes... The raw guitar tone is really really really awful, I have about 9 or 10 cuts taming some nasty nasty peaks... what you're hearing is 2000x better than what was given to me.. trust me, you dont really wanna hear them lol. Unfortunately there are no DIs as well... which is a pain in the ass, but gotta work with what I have, Im going to lower them and if that doesnt do the trick, mid/side EQ could do the trick, Ill post something soon
