Mildly excited. I did play FF7 on Playstation when it came out and remember being blown away by the graphics but I could and still can't really get into any RPG type game other than Zelda.
If they re-did Tactics with the same-ish art style, but with a control scheme and feel close to Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3, I'd be in love. That was one of my favorite games last gen.
And I'm right behind LeSedna in murdering SE if they abandon turn-based combat for this.
Definitely wasn't part of the original cult following (which probably makes me a more flexible fan), but FF VII really did kinda changed my life as a young teen and just seeing the header made my heart swell like few things can. That being said, classic JRPG stuff hasn't evolved much and turn based combat wasn't what made FF VII special. I like the hybrid combat system some games have implemented.
I'll be pretty pissed if it's not turned based. Being able to level grind by holding down a single button was awesome
were the X and X2 remakes still turn based?
Also, I really hope they leave in Emerald, and Ruby Weapon. Those fuckers drove me insane as a kid
X was old school jRPG turn based yes, and although it's the first of the series that shifted to this new generation of more linear game, it's an awesome one !

They aren't remakes, they are just remastered versions so their original turn based system remains.
Tetsuya Nomura in an interview said:
But we can't have these upgraded, beautiful 3D models of Cloud and Barrett, still lining up in a row, jumping forward to attack an enemy, then jumping back to wait for their next turn. That would be bizarre. Of course there will likely be changes there. But if we took away parts like the lighter moments of the game, then it would no longer be FFVII.
