I've been getting down to writing some songs lately, and i've been having trouble connecting my main riffs. So I thought that I'd need some filler riffs inbetween to connect them, but I'm bot sure how to do this.

Do you mean transition riff? That would just be a modification of the first riff so that it ends on a chord closer to the sound of the second riff.
If you just want to write filler riffs, it depends on the style, but you could always just chug on the E and play the chords used in the first riff, then the same pattern but with the chords used in the second riff. Better off just coming up with a good transition, though.*

Its more of like a melodic black song, and only the rhythm (which is present in about a third of the song) plays chords. I tried using the same pattern but closer to the second riff, but it just sounds dumb.
