Check it out! Some of you might have heard one song from us before, which I posted on this forum, called Decreation - now I'm finished with the whole thing.

Comments more than welcome, hope you guys like it!

It's melodic death metal with different kinds of influences, I don't like categorizing music too much - but I'll let you decide!

The songs can be found from our myspace as well, but like everyone knows myspace rapes everything so I uploaded the songs on Soundcloud.

awesome man, can't listen to it right now, but I will!

can't wait to hear your opinion!

That sounds tight as shit. Does your band have a keyboard player or did you do midi programing?

Thanks a lot man! We had a keyboard player, but she left the band before we were able to get the recording sessions going properly. We're planning to search for a new one but we aren't in a rush with that. We're probably going to play some gigs using only backing tracks when we'll get at it.

Wow, buddy. Any production details for us?

Thanks for the interest! Let's see what I can dig up, off the top of my head...

on guitars, I used the 5150 model of Overloud TH1 for the highs and Studio Devil BVC for the lows. I think I used TH1 for the bass highs as well, I might have to get back on that, as I need to document the songs for a school project anyway. Ampeg SVX for the lows. Guitars and bass were directly plugged into my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40.

Drums are Superior, with kick and snare replaced with Slate. I recorded my own drumming using an electric drumkit which made editing and processing easy... I used plugins for almost all the synth sounds, mostly Alchemy by Camel Audio, EWQL SO Silver, Logic bundled synths to fill things up, etc.

Because I spent all of my money on the interface, monitors and plugins (I'm a plugin junkie, I'm always like LISTEN TO THIS NEW AWESOME PLUGIN I BOUGHT) I had to go for a relatively cheap mic, so I used a Rode NT1a for everything. Our lead vocalist's vocals, on a guest vocalist (Antti from Tracedawn was kind enough to provide us with some guest vocals, he can be heard on "Apparatus of Reason" as well as in the chorus of "The Marshal") and even the group shouts. I used a T-Bone Micscreen which are being sold at Thomann, to control the room reflections. I think it worked pretty well for 99€.

All in all, the production was very in the box, like many other productions presented on this forum.

Anything you want to specifically know more about, go ahead and ask, I'm happy to answer any questions.

could only listen to it on laptopspeakers until now, so I cant tell much about the production, but the music is awesome so far!
how did you get the guy from tracedown do some vocals? I liked their first album quite a lot

Thanks a lot man! He's actually a friend of ours, the metal scene in the capital city area is quite small, everyone knows each other through someone else. have you checked out their second album? I think it's better than the first one, plus Antti's voice has improved quite a bit since the self-titled album.

Checked it out on my headphones, and I think the production fits your style very good!
you also managed to get the most out of the guitars/players that was possible (still remember that part lol)
The kick is a bit too much clicky for my tastes, I like them with more meat personally.
also the bass seems to "flubb" a bit at parts were it is soloed, but its not really bad.
Awesome EP in general man, congrats!

haha cool to see that you know him through the scene
my gf has the 2nd album but I havent liked it too much on the first listen...didnt give it a lot of chances though...didnt listen a lot to music on general over the last year^^

how did you call the demo after all now?

haha thanks man, really appreciate it!

Yeah I actually agree with the kick, after I thought I was ready I wanted to take the kick down just a tad... But sadly I wasn't able to open the project files anymore  it seems I drove them too far in terms of requiring processing power and my trusty ol' macbook couldn't open those projects again.

I agree with the bass, I would have wanted to get some more grind in there... Next time then I hope. The bass had a surprisingly round, probably because of old strings.

We ended up with a simple name Exist, with € and $ in the cover in the places of letters E and S. It's still quite straightforward with its meaning but we wanted one short word for the title.

Thanks again, and thanks for helping me with the tones earlier this year!

after I gave the songs a few rounds I still think its cool, I only think that you overdid the glitching effects at some parts. they sound cool, they are just a bit often, and nothing special anymore if it happens in a lot of tracks (just my opinion of course :) )

ah well, I also had that problem once, but somehow the pc managed to open the session again...seems there was too much reverb action going on for my old ass pc^^

cool title in the end, although it may fits better to bands from the hardcore scene (I guess those are the guys who always write with symbols...at least I think so^^)
I'm still in need of a title for the album...still got some time...

no problem man, hope I could help in the end

Yeah that occured to me as well man, the thing is I wanted to adopt some tricks used in newer metal productions to make the songs more interesting production-wise, but the problem with that was that I'm not much of a producer, since this was the first album I've ever worked on... It just sounded so cool applied on everything you know! I started using it a bit more sparingly after one of our band's other members mentioned about it, and while I stand behind my decisions of which effects to leave in the songs, I agree that some people might think there's a few too many.

On my end, I think it's the amount of softsynths in the songs. I could have been using the bounce-in-place function on the tracks from the start, but I only realized I could do that when it was a little too late  Still, I'm pretty amazed that my mac could handle the production as well as it did. A better system saves you a lot of time and grief, though.

I don't really have a problem with people associating us with hardcore music, as long as they won't come to our gigs and act like they're at a HC gig if you know what I mean. :Puke:

I'm so gay I posted this in the new band showcase -section and now I noticed Olli is registered here and has posted this. Nevertheless, tight shit!
