finished tracking a band today - rock/punk/female vocals

drums were a mapex m series, and a black panther brass snare (AWESOME), although skins were old so there is a lot of replacement. the snare didnt sound too bad but i have mixed other samples in too.

guitars are just podfarm atm, will be reamped later, still some stuff to sort out with them. bass was a traben through podfarm. vocals at4040. Im still editing this so the mix is pretty rough, just trying out different things really atm.

feedback would be cool to help me point this mix in the right direction

BTW one of the guitarists was female too, as was the bassist FWIW

any details on the bass would be cool Im using podfarm as well. Other wise it sounds like its tracked exceptionally well, good job man!

bass was a tramen, the bassist says she has the only 2 in england or something. all knobs on full, played as hard as i could get out of her. podfarm was using the sansamp sim, and the session amp just tweaked untill it sounded right really, then compression+eq with URS CSP.

these drums sounds great Ed! even those pod farm tracks are not that bad, I think these sounds more real than your old pod tracks
Pay attention to the snare roll/solo before the last chorus, seems there's some mistriggering, or maybe you gotta fix the performance
Anyway good mix, let us hear when you'll reamp!

I think that the guitar and vocals need more presence... and that the mix is not very "glued" together. The vocals are swiming outside the mix IMO! But all in all its cool... and i like the song! ...singer sounds like she's hot!

The snare is really dark and cloudy. More brightness would be better IMO. She is a bit too dry also.

cheers guys, taken that stuff into account and updated the mix at the top. im done for the day on this i think, driving myself mad right now

guitars will be reamped so ill try and get the high end in from the amp. im still not quite there with the bass IMO, i personally think its a bit high.....

also +1 on the dry singer (giggity ) and a dry mix in generall....i miss the music in some parts on that song, but the mix will be great i guess

updated the link again....still podfarm guitars. the reamps arent quite working out for me yet, really annoying me right now.

hm, when the song kicked in i felt it really lacked "excitement" - but after the vocals kick in, everything sounds very cool. a little paramore orientated.
might be its the bad playing... but you really didi a nice job! excited about the final master!
