I was tracking, the firepod was cutting in and out, lights flickering. Took it out, opened up the side to check fuse, the connector from the back switch to the board was brown/black and melted. Good thing I caught that one.

¯\(°_o)/¯ How do get money from presonus?

I might take a pic later.

This is probably the first time ever that I've heard someone having hardware issues with his firepod. These things seem to be pretty sturdy in general...

Exactly. All the problems Presonus has had have been driver and software based.... First time I have heard of this, maybe the power supply just took a dump which would cause internal problems...

Yeah, I bought mine on ebay, not sure how old it is but it works great, I didn't feel like buying a new switch or bothering to take it back, so i just used a jumper from a hard drive and put it across the power pins on the mainboard, i use a strip to turn on my monitors and firepod. Since I have put the jumper there, I haven't had a problem with it, I even checked it to make sure the little jumper hadn't blackened, and its fine. The switch connector was horribly loose and charred.

lol. i just had a couple of bad expieriences with 2 firepods i had. they had both died within 3 months of each other, brand new, and i take great care of my gear. as you can tell, im a little irked about it, haha. and the drivers....that's another story.

edit: i'll add that when they DID work, (other than getting having to install the drivers multiple times) they worked rather well. daisy chaining didn't work well though. im on a macbook (jan 08) btw. and my 400f works flawlessly. even with wireless N on, downloading from itunes, and daisy chaning 2 firewire harddrives off of it with an Agere firewire chipset.
