so yeah, i got few bands here and there, but never played live (yet).
this friday, one of the orginizers over here gave me a slot in one of the concerts.

offcourse i took it, but not with my Azerate band. but other, its with my death metal band "Dark Sanity".

im kinda nervous, of what ppl would think of us, and what will there reviews would be.

so any help, of how to comunicate with the crowd and be normal

Pound some beers before the show - just enough to take the calm your nerves. Then give it all you got during the performance. Just try to fun and don't sweat the reviews..

Most journalistic reviews are pretty much horseshit anyway.

uh...
probably no big reviews just yet.
Play hard, talk in a normal voice, be cool...do what you wish bands would do live.
The only cool thing Trivium have ever done is sometimes they let one of the fans sing when they cover Master of Puppets. This is something that should spread. If you're doing any well known covers, see if anyone wants to sing it.
Also, be cool and slap hands with the fans, hang around after, etc...

hehe long story, but yeah the gig is in Dubai, UAE, and ur right beave. over here after a gig, a local sites reviews, and usually those reviews either make you or destroy u.

the worst part is the orginizer that im playing for, wants almost every type of ppl in the gig, i mean in the bill the bands are rock, punk, and other one
and we are death metal, so we stick out like a sore thumb between them, and one of the reasons that im nervous about, is that not everyone whos attending likes death metal, or metal at all

The lineup consists of:

Mandown (Punk)
Dark Sanity (Death Metal)
Indiephone (Indiephone)
Good Fryday (Rock)

about the songs, we are playing 3 orignials and 1 cover, wintersun "beyond the dark sun", so im not sure if ppl know it, to let them sing with me

Whoa...UAE?? In that case i don't know what advice to give. That's terra incognita for me, but i suspect you might want to prepare for what they call in show business a "tough crowd" (i.e. one that's hard to please)..:loco:

There's this pretty decent local grind band where i live with a singer who always puts on one hell of a performace. He gets so fired up that he starts bashing himself in the face with the mic, then he'll start smearing the blood around his face as he sings. It ain't no stunt either, the passion and blood is real. It's quite a riveting (even if slightly disturbing) performance, reminiscent of the late GG Allin's notorious stagecraft.

I kinda feel bad for the singer though. I think he might suffer from very deep clinical depression..:ill:

I don't know how it is in the UAE but here in Europe you just play as many amateur gigs as you can and you get experience in time. Its normal and not very important if you fuck up your first gig (or any gig actually.. if its amateur...).
The advice that i'd give you is not to stay "static".. you gotta move as if you're a super star (but not too much either.. :p). When I don't know a band thats playing its at least cool when they move around. Makes it more fun and shit. A band that doesn't move doesn't make you want to move either.

Good luck. And nobody is gonna know Beyond The Dark Sun, so don't let them sing it, in case it's not too late.

good luck amon!

is metal popular in the UAE? i'm pretty sure it's fairly popular in a few arabic countries like syria for example (it's what i've heard anyway), and yeah take celtiks advice and develop your stage presence - it's really important..

and let us know soon how it goes!! <3
