hmmmm. gonna have to give them the thumbs down. i mean i like Disturbed, but this band is a joke to me. i know they are huge, but they are like a more aggro Korn in my book. pretty much the soundtrack to WWE or UFC.

Honestly, I think they're horrible with incredibly stupid lyrics. Even the band name rubs me the wrong way. It's like they're trying to be metal, but don't have the balls to take it out of bland radio rock territory. "safe" metal.

Just saw them at Mayhem Fest (yes, Korn was headlining). The slower, rock-inspired songs were pretty good, but a lot of the others did sound "aggro-Korn" like Matt said. Jeremy, the drummer put on a good show, though. They've really taken off with the Bad Company cover. That's what's really propelled them. Who'd of thought?

Not so much a fan here.

I was in a cover band in Mississippi and we did a cover of FFDP's "The Bleeding." It hurt me every time...such a simplistic song to play, but it's just like doing Bon Jovi or Def Leppard...you give the people what they want. And FFDP is certainly becoming popular with the tough-guy Pantera/Slipknot/Lamb of God crowd.

I guess it might be metal in some ways, but I am just turned the hell off to most of the shitty tough guy bands. Emmure included in this list, as well. It's like metal, with murky dishwater added in.

Compelling is a great word. Because for people that consider FFDP and the like their FAVORITE BANDS...compelling doesn't seem to be the criterion. To create a word: moshable, would be more appropriate. Angsty, certainly...or just angry. Bro music for bro-magnons.

There's a difference between not being "metal enough" and deliberately straddling the line in order to avoid losing listeners. I mean c'mon, one of my favorite PP acts ever was Mustasch (Diablo Swing Orchestra comes first, however. that show was jaw-dropping.), so I'm not one of those "DETH 2 FALS METUL!" guys or anything*, FFDP just sounds so manufactured and artificial that I can smell the plastic.

As far as the crotch shot goes:

*I listen to plenty of what could be considered "false" metal, a crapton of stuff that isn't even metal at all, false or otherwise. Truthfully, I don't believe in "false" metal.

Did not like this band when they first came out. BUt a lot of the newer songs I dig. Much like Edgeofthorns, I can't place what it is about their sound I like though. I am truly confused by the Korn comparisons though. I see maybe a bit of Pantera but not Korn.

I don't like them a lot but there's something about them that's quite cool even though they have false metal elements. I think I like the dude's melodic vocals much more than the aggro ones and the melodic single type songs much better than the bully boy tough guy songs. If that dude stuck to singing all the way I think I might enjoy an album in full.

I can't believe I remembered the thread to be honest. For some reason the band name kicked loose the memory although to be honest, I though it was a more recent thread and I was surprised to find that it was almost a year old.

Regarding the band, there is nothing for me here...........it's not bad but this is the kind of music that gets old for me real fast after a spin or two.

Now back to the books................................
