Five Finger Death Punch

To me, 5FDP sounds vocally, lyrically, and musically exactly like Disturbed, but Disturbed does it 10x better (I like a good chunk of their work when I’m in the right mood).

Not a band that I like alot, but I will listen to them, the songs i have been ok, I think i would call them "gym metal"

Did not like this band when they first came out. BUt a lot of the newer songs I dig. Much like Edgeofthorns, I can't place what it is about their sound I like though. I am truly confused by the Korn comparisons though. I see maybe a bit of Pantera but not Korn.

i wasn't saying they are LIKE korn in music sense. it's just the overall vibe they go for - they are the modern take on what nu-metal became. like KORN on steroids getting ripped working out for their next UFC fight.

this band is made for bro-down push-pits, beer drinking and general Rock Star Energy, Ozzfest crowds.

also good for dudes in the military (not slagging military dudes at all).

besides the current nu-metal trends in hardcore ala bands like Emmure, Bury Your Dead, etc this is the other end of the spectrum to me in nu-metal's return.

Don't hate em... Saw them at the Mayhem Festival a couple years ago... They were just aight... Not bad at all, but nothing special to me either...

Just gave their latest disc a spin. The slower songs all sound the same. Ironically, they all sound like the cover of "Bad Company" (which is in fact pretty bad ass). That said, they're a pretty solid act, with some cool songs and a cool sounding singer. Their neither awful, nor a band poised to turn Metal on its ear. And if we're putting them in the same category as Disturbed...

Disturbed >>> 5FDP

I LOVED their first album "Way Of The Fist" a lot!!!
I like them a lot, because their songs they DON'T play on the radio are more heavier & better,
plus, their harder, heavier songs, they remind me of All That Remains a lot!
And the guitars are very good on both of their albums as well!
So, my overall opinion is, at least they sound much better than the other spooge
coming from the corporate Death Star that is now the radio!!! :)

Kind of like the YouTube vids linked....not bad...

I have been spinning lots of Disturbed in preparation of seeing them for the first time next week. That got me to thinking of Godsmack, and I wondered why I never really looked into GS before. I see them around now and then and thought they did a respectable job at that Judas Priest tribute special on VH1-Classic a year or two back. I've been digging some of their stuff off Rhapsody today...thoughts on Godsmack?

Godsmack is a pretty solid band. Their songs are very instant, and consequently don't have much of a shelf life, but they are good at what they do. I like the vocals.

As for 5FDP... I'm digging them. Never listened to them before this thread. But I've spun up both their discs in the last two days and could see both landing on my buy list.

Now Godsmack I dig...their songs grip and rip you instantly, and Shannon Larkin beats those drums like a madman.. Their latest album is one of their best too so they are not losing their touch..

Could you really honestly pull of a five finger death punch?
Technically, you would need to use both hands, as each hand only has 4 fingers and 1 thumb.

I would like to give whoever penned the band name a Five Finger Cock Punch.

I think the only song I know by these guys is the Bleeding.
As someone said above, it's 100% safe hard rock.
No interest here, but certainly more enjoyable than Disturbed, Korn, etc.

Don't they have a former WASP member?
