Finally, the band Flotsam And Jetsam have acquired the rights to both "No Place For Disgrace" (Elektra) and "When The Storm Comes Down" (MCA) and are in the process of re-mixing and reissuing both albums. No doubt this had something to do with Metal Blade Records sudden interest in the band...Again. Also, smart move on the band's part to buy the master tapes themselves, instead of letting a label help them. I'm sure Brian Slagel tried his best to get his greasy 'mits' on them.

Anyhow, this is great news for the die hard fans of the band, like me. No word yet as to who is remixing the albums. I thought Bill Metoyer did a great job on the remix of "Doomsday For The Deceiver". however it turns out to be, please just don't let it be the band! Let the pro's take care of it!

"When The Storm Comes Down" has the most atrocious production ever. Alex Perialas must have been out of his mind. With proper sound this album could be huge!

Alex studio was in an overhaul at that time. In 1989/1990 a lot of bigger studios were switching almost all of their equipment from analog machines to digital technology, and it just so happens when the band were recording this album, the producer, engineer, and studio were in the process of learning, and adapting to it. That's why the album is so crystal clear, yet incredibly weak sounding at the same time. They didn't know what they were doing, and Flotz were the guinea pigs.

Wasn't it remixed when MetalMind reissued it? I've never heard that version

The 2008 Metal Mind Records remasters actually sort of help the "Storm" album. The labels' careless handling by way of 'batch mastering' and over use of compression across the board on all their 'reissues' accidentally made the album sound more 'in your face', really. I like it.

"Cuatro" and "Drift" required absolutely zero treatment when they remastered those, so the extra compression threw them way over the top, and rendered them to ridiculous levels of distortion. They both have pretty cool bonus tracks, though.

Very interesting. Was it pre-2006? After the final 2006 'deluxe' remix, I'm satisfied with that forever. I can't imagine it getting any better. That mix rivals "Cuatro", which is the best sounding album they've ever done, I think.

Yes it was pre-the original released mix if I'm not mistaken. I have not looked aty it in a long time so I'll try to remember to glaze at it for some details

Finally, was thinking that one was going to be lost to time. NO Place... will be welcome and I like the Metal Mind releases of When The Storm Comes Down. The original MCA release sounded like hell, drowning in mud.

It's officially off and running. The band are currently in the process of remixing "No Place For Disgrace" and "When The Storm Comes Down". There is a rumor going around that the band are actually re-recording the albums. Not true. Mike Gilbert erred in saying that the band were 're-recording tracks for the albums' during a recent video interview. I double checked my source, and it was a mistake.

Excellent, will definitely grab NPFD. WTSCD, depends. Learning towards possibly not since I have the Metal Mind release. We'll see!

I don't have a real issue with NPFD, as it is a pretty solid mix. I do think it could be improved upon, especially the rhythm guitar sounds. There's so much low/high end on them. Typical of the time, though.

WTSCD I would definitely want to hear a new mix. If for only one reason; to dial back AK's vocals. Wow! You can actually hear him breathe in between vocal takes on that CD, they're so 'up front'. The drum mix itself is perfect, but not in conjunction with the ultra-weak guitars. The whole fuckin' thing is a mess, I think.
