FOR RUIN Signs With SENTINEL RECORDS - Jan. 15, 2007
Irish black/death metallers FOR RUIN have inked a deal with Sentinel Records. The group's debut is scheduled for release before the summer.
FOR RUIN has formally existed since late 2003. Based in Cork, Ireland, founding member John began playing a mixture of melodic black/death metal with strong harmonies, melodies and dynamics throughout. During 1998-2004, John wrote and demoed a number of tracks which finally found their way onto the split MEICHE/FOR RUIN demo.
FOR RUIN completed its second demo, "Shade", during winter 2005. In November 2005, Murphy was joined by three talented and energetic musicians and having completed an Irish tour with MAEL MORDHA in early February, 2006 as well as a number of other gigs, an appearance at the 2006 Day of Darkness festival was confirmed. A support slot with DECAPITATED followed.
In November 2006, Murphy was joined by drummer Barry English (CAPTAIN INSANO, I'LL EAT YOUR FACE), guitarist Drew Myers (ex-HALLOWED) and bassist Barry O'Sullivan (I'LL EAT YOUR FACE). The new promotional CD, "Obsidian", was released in limited quanities.
FOR RUIN filmed its performance at Winterfest 2006 on December 23, 2006 in its homwtown of Cork for the "Live at Winterfest" DVD, which has just been released.

Ireland's FOR RUIN Ink Deal With Sentinel Records
Posted on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 13:06:53
Sentinel Records has issued the following press release regarding new signing FOR RUIN:
"Sentinel Records sign For Ruin...
Since the release of the first split demo release in 2004, For Ruin has developed into a respected force within the Irish metal scene. The second demo/promo, Shade, was released in summer 2005 to widespread international critical acclaim and has served to introduce many people to the band's music.
Since then, the band has found it's feet in the live arena, including a well received set at Ireland's Day Of Darkness festival (with DESTRUCTION, PRIMORDIAL, etc.) during the summer of '06 along with slots with DECAPITATED, MADDER MORTEM and Ireland's MAEL MORDHA.
The band has since appeared on a Terrorizer unsigned-special CD, been reviewed in Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles, and was featured as part of the Republic of Ireland scene report in Terrorizer's August '06 edition.
Countless 'zines have since covered the band, many printing interviews with the band. In the January '07 edition of Terrorizer, the band was awarded the position of the 9th best unsigned band.
For Ruin's debut album will be released through Sentinel Records in mid 2007.
