I for one am stoked.

On a side note, I did bring this thread to the lounge as per the rules, but if the game has since changed due to ProgPower being so close at this point, feel free to delete this thread entirely Glenn.

Some nice names on that list. A Life Once Lost took a lot of shit at Chicago Powerfest, for not being power metal, but I thought they were good.

I don't get how anyone could hate this lineup, unless you're a power metal D&D nerd that wanted another opportunity to wear your knight armor and lost out on it so you'll be playing Everquest at home instead (foreveralone.jpg). It has prog (Cynic, Scale The Summit), dm (Obscura[ appeals to prog fans], Red Chord), thrash (Municipal Waste, Ramming Speed), doom (Howl), post metal (Rosetta- should appeal to prog fans too) and even hxc. There's something for everyone, so you probably don't like a whole lotta bands if you can't find SOMETHING in this for you.

Gee im sorry i dont like doom, "post metal" whatever the hell that is and not really a prog fan.. melodic metal yes..this fest looks like a lot of growly vox which i despise... thanx for caring about my well being tho

well, it's not the fest's fault that you only like one thing...

I wouldn't see this show for free so I guess I'm a Power Metal nerd even though I hate D&D, World Of Warcraft, Everquest, Magic the Gathering, and all that other online gaming and card shit. I don't care for Renaissance fairs or any of the medieval stuff. There's different forms of "Power Metal". I love JAG PANZER but can't stand RHAPSODY, or DRAGONFORCE and all those other run of the mill generic Italian / Spanish / Argentina Power Metal bands.

Nerds are dudes who talk smack on message boards. ;)

BTW I love more bands than you can possibly count.

Municipal Waste and Cynic are worth it though. Especially Municipal Waste. Talk about one of the most fun bands I've ever seen live.

Municipal Waste is best experienced in a 300 or smaller person club. Anything bigger takes away from the show, unfortunately. Good times though.

Absolutely. When I saw them, there must have been 100 people at the venue. I'll never forget the sound of the big 300lb guy slamming the floor when attempting a stage dive... even MW's vocalist said "Oouch."

Anyways... This festival is at Gramercy Theater. I believe it's a 700 cap. Still a bit more, but it almost feels small enough..
