For those who have recently finished post-secondary education

yeah, it sounds like you're freaking rocking. presenting papers and even getting offers to publish is pretty damn good for just having graduated.

grad school starts in the fall. I still have my writing tutor and grocery store jobs. life goes on

I have intentionally not done anything since I graduated, taking some time off. I briefly contemplated going to grad school but quickly realized there was no possible way to do this without incurring tens of thousands of dollars in debt when my parents mentioned that they wouldn't help pay for it. I'll be looking for a job (note: not a 'career') soon and just see where things go.

Good to hear things are looking up for you MasterOLightning. Just curious, why did you give up (temporarily) pursuing a career in journalism? Was it that difficult to find even a entry level position at a decent media outlet? I ask because I have been at least somewhat contemplating the Journalism field, though I certainly have some qualms about pursuing that.

I used to be a writing tutor as well. I honestly thought having that on my resume would help me alot, but so far it seems to be of little value and may, I fear, actually be negative if I am applying to some brainless retail job just to earn some cash.

What are you going to be studying in grad school?

Yeah that's the main reason I didn't pursue grad school immediately. That and I have no idea what I would actually like to study, I am thinking I might want to switch my focus entirely if I do go in that direction.

You also are working on the blog and the zine too, correct? I have been reading it on occasion, and I must say, you guys are doing some good work there.

Yeah, we're focusing on getting the first issue out right now. Which honestly I'd like to get done already, as I have tons of ideas in the pipeline already for articles and things of that nature. I've already written stuff for the next issue. Thanks for the compliment.

Rhetoric and Composition...I'm going to be an English teacher/professor, so in this case, being a writing tutor is actually beneficial
