Metal that encompasses the fealing of nature, the sound of guitars and violins whistling through the trees...get the point? I didn't think so.:)
"Forest Metal"...WTF!?

Haha, yes! Forest metal!

I am picturing a bunch of Scandinavian metallers with heavy lisps sitting around a bonfire: "Hey guyth, letsth record an album in the foresth amidsth the treeth and wilderneth. And we'll call it 'Foresth Metal!'

Which one of the black metal bands supposedly recorded an album in a cottage somewhere in the woods? I know it was one of the big ones, but I always forget which one.

I doubt this is a real request, but I have a real recommendation at any rate - Ethereal Woods.
Their album 'In The Forest of Arden' is almost entirely about the woods around where they live.

Didn't Zeppelin do that?

Hill metal is for pussies. Real men listen to Mountain metal.
:headbang:

Rhapsody's stuff often deals with the beauty of nature, and uses medieval folk music that gets a very foresty feel. Also, frequently uses nature sounds.
But you'll think they're gay.
Also...most ridiculous thread ever.

no, it isn't.

I have nothing to back that up, just going on the assumption that nothing that ridiculous can exist.

If it's a real sub-genre, please fill us in on what it entails.

Actual definitions of forest metal that I have heard so far

Agalloch - everything except AATG and those stupid EP releases except Of stone wind and pillor
Opeth - Morningrise
Demons & wizards - fiddler on the green (just the song)
drudkh - autumn aurora (best exmaple)
elvenking - heathenreel
