Oklahoma-based rockers HINDER last week officially and permanently parted ways with their lead singer Austin Winkler. Winkler left the lineup during a tour earlier this year for what was said to be "personal reasons," although it was later confirmed that the hard-partying vocalist had entered rehab for the second time in his career. Jared Weeks from SAVING ABEL filled in for Winkler on what was then a temporary basis. In a new statement, Winkler said: "It's with a heavy heart that I announce after 12 years of being the lead singer of HINDER, the band and I have decided to part ways. I wish the guys nothing but the best in the future. "I want to thank each and every one of you all for your love and support over the years, and especially over the last four months on my road to recovery. All the messages you sent me on Twitter and Instagram really helped me get through this difficult time in my life. I'm happy to say I've been sober for 150 days. "I'm really passionate about the new project I'm working on. I have been in the studio nonstop and can't wait to share this new music with you. We're just getting started!" In a statement announcing the band's split with Winkler, HINDER drummer Cody Hanson said, "I'm really proud of what we accomplished over the years. We hold no animosity towards Austin, and wish him the best. Although it was a difficult decision, it was the best thing for everyone involved and time for us to move on." Hanson added, "This summer/fall tour was a tough one. We want to thank the fans for all their overwhelming support. We couldn't have made it through everything without you. We are very excited about the future of HINDER and can't wait to share the next chapter with all of you!" According to The Pulse Of Radio, there's no word yet on who HINDER might recruit on vocals. It was reported when Winkler left earlier in the year that the band was interested in either "American Idol" season seven winner David Cook or season 10's James Durbin. The band has spent much of 2013 on the road in support of its fourth album, "Welcome To The Freakshow", which came out last year.
