Two Bay Area thrash scene veterans, Strephon Taylor (SACRILEGE B.C. vocalist; November Fire owner) and Mark DeVito (artist for METALLICA, MOTÖRHEAD, ANVIL CHORUS; Metal Babies owner), have teamed up to create a documentary on the infamous Tower Records art department. "Art Gods" takes you through the origins of what was exclusively originated at Tower Records Berkeley by Steve Pollutro, as revolutionizing music wall displays through hand-crafted, hand-cut foam core, and set the tone for the rest of the international chain. Stories of rock and roll debauchery, showered with free records, backstage passes, and record-release parties, these kids ran the wild and wacky art departments for the largest independently owner record retailer in the world. Revered by record executives, local and internationally renowned bands, and everyone who walked into a Tower Records and saw these hand-made, monster music displays, Tower's art department was unequaled. Check out a trailer for the film below.
