Forty-five degrees below zero in eastern MA?

Business was off Thursday at a Waffle House restaurant in Tewkesbury, Massachusetts, said cook Sandra Starke. "It's awful, very cold," she said. "We just got a dusting [of snow] but it's so cold nobody wants to come out."

Whoa there's a Waffle House in MA!

Also you know what, I hate the cold but if it got down to -71 F i would step outside for a second in short sleeves, just to experience that once in my life. I mean, I'm probably never gonna get to go to outer space. I would LOVE to be able to experience -100 once.

i can't remember if someone on the board told me about this, but i guess there's a research facility in Antarctica where they initiate new scientists by putting them in the facility's sauna, cranking it up to max heat (which is almost 200 degrees), and then making them step outside in a towel (where it's -100 degrees) so their body experiences a 300 degree temperature drop instantly.

sounds like just some brainy frat-boys, to me, but i'd still like to experience that once.

hey greg, you remember that crackhead kid we met at the Providence train station who came back to Boston with me and tried to beat up that transvestite hooker? he lived in Tewkesbury. i will always associate that town with him 4evaandeva.

I've done the sauna -> jump into the pool thing in the winter. it's pretty intense and your whole body goes numb. a 300 degree difference would be even intenser!

SF currently is at 50F. The forecast for the week shows that being the average and holding steady for at least 5 days. My house across the bay is probably 5 degrees warmer or so overall.
