Frantic Bleep reviews

http://www.munchkinmusic.be/IE_5_0/Reviews.php?toDo=showLatest

Wow!! This is not easy to decribe! Frantic Bleep from Norway plays a sort of avantgarde-metal. The production is very good, the music very technical with lots of breaks, but sometimes a little bit too experimental for me.

An example of the variety on this album: the opening of The expulsion could be directly on the Opeth classic Damnation, with its fabulous clean vocals, deep bass sound, atmospheric guitar riffs but then they change the speed, some spacy grunts come looking, then the song slows down again , here a break, there a break. It's all a little bit hard to follow. I sometimes had the impression they just glue two riffs together, no matter if they go well together or not.

You could easily compare Frantic Bleep with the likes of Arcturus , late In The Woods, some instrumental parts even would fit well on a David Lynch soundtrack. It's really difficult to say if this is a good or a bad CD. When you're finally convinced of the greatness of the album, they start with their intellectual pling pling plong sounds. And just when you want to skip to the next song, they surprise you with beautiful vocals and a very touching atmospheric keyboard line. All the songs have a dark melancholic layer upon them, it just makes you want to bury your head in your mommie's lap and weep!

Frantic Bleep-The Sense Apparatus-CD (The End Records)

When I heard there 4 song demo a about a year ago I knew this band was going to be something special. Mix Equal parts, Prog Rock, Avant Metal, Jazz , Post Rock and Electronica Soundscapes. This Impossible to put at category on bands like Frantic Bleep They are what the new Wave of Norway music is all about I put them were bands like Manes, Red harvest, Arcturus, Ulver, Madder Mortem (which a member of The Bleep is in). The Delicate Mix of Textures , Sounds & Aggression is what is going to make me dig deeper in to this and the amazing grandious sound and mind-numbing mixture of styles will but it high on top of another excellent if not Brilliant release that The End records has caught on to early on. To top it all off the 18 paneled Gold and White booklet is just more to add to the loveliness of it all. If your musically adventurous this release is a must.

I don't think the album will be out until next Monday(the 14th) in Europe, for some weird reason. Don't even ask why.. :err:

Our new homepage will be available any day now:

YES!

It JUST ARRIVED!

Its a beauty, well done to everyone... in every respect this is a great release! From the music to the packaging to the concept!

The pic I promised will come later!

Edit: Great production too! What guitar amps etc did you use? I love the really roaring/chunky 7 string riffs!

Thanks

What guitar amps we use? That's a secret. But I'll give a few hints:

Carcass used it, Madder use it, Devn townsend uses it, In flames use it, Machiine head use it and a dutch guy with a crazy right index finger helped creating it.

We didn't use the standard approach when we recorded either. A few more mics than usual and a big room. You're gonna look hard for a better guitar sound in my opinion. I love it!

I endorse Frantic Bleep as you can see!

Hehe cool!

Very good review from Critical Metal:

10/10 :Spin:

Let me introduce you what I think will be considered one of the top albums of 2005. It arrived at the very end of December, 2004, and before I had listened to even half of it, I began to feel very confident that by the end of 2005, I will still be thinking about it. The press sheet said it took the band an entire year to record this album (October03-October04), and it shows.

Think of several metal bands with different styles that can all be described as progressive. For me, bands like Into Eternity (power prog.), Opeth (death/prog), Madder Mortem (prog. ???), and Arcturus (prog. black) come immediately to mind. These bands are favorites of mine, and all of them come to mind when listening to Frantic Bleep. They also bear a resemblance to AGE OF SILENCE (also on The End Records). If imitation is the highest form of flattery, then Frantic Bleep has flattered all the right bands. And they have done it beautifully, in their own unique, schizophrenic way. There are no dull moments on this album, and once you think you have it figured out, it will change on you. Thought-provoking lyrics are included too! To me, these are the ingredients for a truly great album. Expect to hear more about this band in the days to come.
