Freak Kitchen!

America = United States Of America
NORTH America = Canada, US, Mexico, other shit

Yea, I know that's how you lot perceive it, but that's part of the reason why other nationalities think you are egocentric loudmouths. Believe it or not, most non-Americans can't see a lot of difference between people who live in Canada and those who live in the US.

Canadians are Americans, whether they be North Americans or not, in the same way Germans are Europeans, whether they want to term themselves Northern Europeans or not.

No, there's a huge difference considering there's TWO American continents. You would be an idiot to not specify. Canadians are North Americans, Americans are North Americans, Mexicans are North Americans. Brazilians are South American, etc., etc.

Well done, you're bound to ace that geography test.

A Canadian slagging off Americans is like a Scot saying that all Brits are tossers or a German stating that Europeans smell like dirty dogs.

You seem desperate to prove that Canadians are not Americans.

They're "Americans in the sense that every fucking body in the Western Hemisphere is, which is laughably vague. Using the base term "American" to describe anything but "The United States Of America" which is the only country that actually calls itself American is just stupidly vague. So there are no "American" countries; there are North and South American countries. They are recognized to be different continents, unlike Western and Eastern Europe. That's the difference. You're implying that I have some kind of dislike for Canadians or do not want to be associated with them. On the contrary, I love the country and have vacationed there multiple times. It's just more logical to be a bit more specific, let alone the fact that 99% of the people in the world are refering to the US when they say "Americans."

Anyway, i like Freak Kitchen. It's fun, catchy, and tongue-in-cheek. Not everything has to be serious or difficult to listen to. FK is my pop. when i want something catchy, i listen to them. It's not a sin to listen to catchy music. their albums are a lot the same though, and it is very formulaic music. I don't see why that has to always be bad though.

Some call F K metal, some don´t. It depends what board your on. Anyway, I would like to say that F K is a very serious band. Almost every metal band uses aggression and rage to make a point. Mattias uses humour to make his point. It´s like his starting a joke but when it´s time for the punchline the jokes on you. If you really study his lyrics you would know what I mean.

Guys, guys, guys. Calm down and talk about the music. We ain't politicians and should stop digging at each other just because of what we percieve another country to be.

I've got friends in the US and all over Europe. I love 'em all!

hippie tbh

Mattias IA Eklundh is a nimble-fingered, spirited guitarist from Gothenburg (Sweden) who describes his style as freak guitar, with an overall passion for musical weirdness, as documented on his latest release, "Freak Guitar". His guitar of choice is an Apple Horn model. Eklundh has played guitar since 1980, and frankly confirms his career goal, "To do what I am doing now: compose weird music, try to explore the electric guitar little by little...and of course world domination, herh, herh..."

When requested to name his preferred effect for the guitar, Eklundh responded with, "Distortion, never use anything else," and submitted his musicial goals, "Trying to make guitar stuff that everybody can sink their teeth into, not just guitar players." He would like to someday study the various instruments of the orchestra real thoroughly some day to be able to write some strange tunes, and is currently listening to Frank Zappa, Howard Shore ("his soundtrack to the movie "Crash" is excellent guitar music"), Shakti with John McLaughlin, Los Lobos and Messhuggah. His greatest satisfaction? "To be able to wake up everyday with a sinister smile and do exactly what I want to do: make music," he answers indisputably.

Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Mattias IA Eklundh to guitarists such as Bumblefoot, Johan, Steve Vai, Frank Zappa, Ron Thal, Joe Satriani, Doug Aldrich, John Petrucci, Dweezil Zappa, John 5, Johan Randen and others.

Imagine a musical frontier with no boundaries, no limitations, no restrictions. Allow us to unveil that very record---Freak Guitar-The Road Less Traveled, a new Favored Nations release by Swedish guitarist Mattias IA Eklundh. It's a six-string tour-de-force of insane explorations of sound that consistently presses the musical envelope. Crammed with 23 jaw-dropping tracks, all displaying Eklundh's imagination, seasoned versatility and fiery virtuoso technique, Freak Guitar-The Road Less Traveled is like nothing you've ever heard before. "The thing I'm most proud of with the album is I gave the record time," remarks Eklundh. "I think time is the key word for trying to break new ground. That's what it's all about. I'm influenced by the same guitar players as everybody else but I tried to walk the road less traveled, to grow my own mustache so to speak. I'm from Sweden and I do everything backwards. I'm left handed and I use no effects whatsoever. The guitar itself contains so many sounds you can use. I have very liberal ears and I wanted to make a listenable, unorthodox party CD."

The critical praise for the record has been unanimous with Eklundh enjoying five-star reviews from British publications, Kerrang and Guitar Techniques. UK Guitarist raves: "Eklundh's ear for melody is spot on, even during his most avant-garde moments, and an insane cover of "Smoke on the Water" is just the tip the iceberg. Faster than Malmsteen, smoother than Michael Lee Firkins and, dammit, better than Vai - this is undoubtedly the future of this style of guitar playing".

Blessed with a limitless musical imagination, Freak Guitar-The Road Less Traveled, Mattias IA Eklundh's second solo release, resonates with the sound of an artist comfortable in his own skin. This record isn't a shredder guitar wank fest. Instead, Freak Guitar succeeds because it's packed with great, and memorable songs. "Of course there are tons of guitar licks on the record, "says Eklundh. "But I really believe it's a guitar record for people who actually like different kinds of music. You don't have to be a guitar nerd to dig it. The star of the record is the songs. It's even more important in guitar instrumental music to frame your songs, make it easy for everyone to listen to and not just be a platform for showing off."

Hailing from Sweden, he first began playing guitar at age 13, finding inspiration in the work of musical non-conformists, Frank Zappa and KISS. His love of 'left of the dial' mavericks profoundly impacted his own artistic direction. "I'm not a musical snob. My record collection is one big mess of gypsy jazz, Zappa, KISS, Miles Davis, and Slayer among many others. Zappa and KISS were my main guys and are still inspiring to me. They were unconventional with what they did and were in many ways opposites of each other, hi-fi, low-fi. Zappa was all abut the humor, the enormous skills, and the complexity of his music while KISS was just a sledge-hammer and I love both. That duplicity of sounds, approaches and philosophy has heavily influenced how I write and record music."
