Freddie Mac CEO found dead in his apartment

It's no good.

Stocks drop heavily upon the news, another dude dodges taking responsibility and another 5 year old kid is left without daddy.

Welp, maybe he should've thought about all the other 5 year old kids left with a dim future and having to foot the bill of the bailouts aimed at people like him. He presided over the very company that ruined many lives and set the country back by decades financially, coupled with the fact that he was one of the people in line to get the executive bonuses.

It looks like he took that Senator's advice and killed himself instead of taking responsibility. My day is a little brighter now.

Fuck him. They'll live the rest of their lives in the lap of luxury, just as they always have up to this point. Meanwhile, millions of other families will be eating hand to mouth and working three jobs for 15 hours per day just to make ends meet, constantly juggling jobs. The only kids growing up without parents are these families, as they'll never see them because they'll be working like slaves for the rest of their lives.

His kid will grow up with servants in a well-to-do neighborhood, go to college at an Ivy League school, and grow up to be just like dad. Fuck them too.

Yeah I'm a heartless asshole when it comes to this shit.

I just don't get the logic behind this "brightening up your day", really...

Apparently "these people" infuriate you and it's also quite apparent that facing consequences, taking responsibility and in the light of this consequently a change (degradation) in lifestyle, was a worse fate than suicide for this guy (which says a lot about our society).

I think we'll agree on this dude not offing himself as an act of taking responsibility, but rather to escape those consequences.

So logic tells me you should have been more pleased with this guy taking responsibility because it's a worse fate for him than death. Now he's taken the "easy" way out and leaves even more "innocent" victims (his family and all the people who suffered financial losses from the stock drops caused by his suicide).

My only explanation is that the anger you're having towards "these" people defies logic and you want these people wiped off the face of the earth regardless the circumstances.

It's kinda the same thing with people who are against bailouts AT ALL, because that doesn't make much sense either...

But hey fine, I couldn't give a crap about this guy. So if you're getting enjoyment from his death... roak on, bro!

The only thing that crossed my mind when I read about this, was: "Fuckin' coward. Stocks drop again... *sigh*"

Well, for starters there was no evidence released that he killed himself. *Edit: I skimmed over the article, oops, apparent suicide*
Secondly, fuck you and your bright day.
Perhaps you don't understand how the problems was caused. People signed contracts with banks to get loans they couldn't pay for. Its not the banks fault if you don't understand what the contract says, perhaps they should have gave'em a once or even a twice over before signing the contracts and their lives away. Sure the banks could have denied the loans to the customer but the customer is and will always be responsible for understanding the risk of the situation that they're getting into.
I can't how ever condone the actions of the banks for taking our tax money and paying bonuses to their executives, that however doesn't mean they should die. The government could freeze their assets and throw them in Jail.
Everything else you wrote is all fucking speculation oh, all knowing prophet of the future.

I see what you're saying, but I didn't skim over the article. I read it.

And did you also know that he was in line for an $850,000 bonus to be taken from the bailout money?

This is purely speculation so you can throw shit at me all you want, but here's how I see it going down:

Dickhole here was in just as much shit from the economic collapse as everyone else, just in larger numbers. When he found out that the government was going to either take away or tax 90-100% of his lifeline, i.e., his bonus, he realized that he was no longer going to be able to observe the rest of the slaves from his ivory tower, and to make matters worse, he and his family was going to be forced to face reality and give up living in the lap of luxury, something he just couldn't bring upon himself or his family.

Let's not kid ourselves; this douchebag killed himself.

Now, it must be said that he wasn't the CEO during the entire hubub (he took over acting CEO only relatively recently), but he in fact was a top executive; a top executive in line for a hefty sum of taxpayer money. Guys, they don't pick people from the mailroom to be the CEO of one of the largest mortgage firms in the world. He had his hand in the cookie jar and he got caught and couldn't bring himself to take responsibility, so he offed himself.

It's just a theory, though. I could be wrong...but I doubt it.

Not all people on Wall Street are at fault for what happened, as the public seems to believe. But this guy was in THE firm that started it all. This wasn't some obscure lending firm whose CEO found out his wife was divorcing him and taking everything he had, so he decided he couldn't take it anymore and offed himself. 1 + 1 = 2.

You can think I'm a flaming asshole, coldhearted piece of shit if you want, I don't care. In fact, I hope others follow suit and weed out these thieves and let people who have a basic moral and ethical sense about them take over and try to repair the situation. Don't expect me to feel pity for this piece of shit. I'm sure there are about 100,000,000 other people in the US that would give their right arm to just be able to LOSE that kind of money, and I don't see 100,000,000 people offing themselves in light of this economic downturn. Nope, they're putting their head down and driving on, determined to fight their way through this, no matter how many jobs they have to take on or how many sacrifices they have to endure all because of people like this guy.

I'd like to clarify two points:

1) Dude was the acting CFO

2) You aren't cold-hearted, you're a bleeding heart. An actual stone cold viewpoint looks like this:

People get exactly what they deserve. Suffering is the nature of human existence, and it is in the rational self interest of everyone to try and get what they can while they can. Those who succeed do so at the expense of others, and those who fail should have tried harder.

Now compare the Dead Winter argument:

"Shame on that child (who is inherently evil) for being born into privilege, which I and all other working class people would gladly lie, cheat, and steal to obtain for ourselves and our family. We wouldn't feel ashamed enough to kill ourselves though, because we were born with less and are therefore entitled to tear down those that were luckier."

Let's not kid ourselves; this douchebag killed himself. He just made it look like an APPARENT suicide and not DEFINITIVE suicide so his family wouldn't be cut out of his life insurance money. Such a noble gesture of cowardice.

Once again, fuck him. If there's a Hell, I hope he's burning right now.

Maybe he had terminal butt cancer and decided not to force his family through that shit and offed himself.
Perhaps he had a autoerotic asphyxiation complex and accidently hung himself in his basement "Dungeon".

Lets see, His neighbors said he was a nice guy and quoted him as saying he " that he wanted to help the company through its problems." So I'm assuming that he didn't want others to lose their jobs or wanted to save the Companies face. The government thought it was good enough to appoint him Cheif Financial Officer. Two government agents said he wasn't under investigation or scrutiny so maybe, just maybe his job was his life and he was so stressed out and depressed that he hung himself because he might have had a mental breakdown. Who knows!?

He was in line for 850k, maybe he wouldn't have taken it, you don't really know. Its true that he was one of the top brass during bloated housing crisis, yet he wasn't under investigation. That should say something right there. I feel that Suicides are the ultimate in selfishness but sometimes people who do feel that they have no other choice are truly convinced that is what they have to do.
I'm just offering my perspective on the matter. I don't think that you're a selfish asshole cause if what you say holds true then I'd damn sure be convinced otherwise.
Just as a side note... You kinda come off as Fox news'ish.

*Thumbs up*

Uh, wow. That's a pretty black and white thread there.

Dude's dead and suicide is a pretty hot topic for most. Ok, an apparent suicide. Right. He was found hanging in his basement so, short of someone poisoning him and then hanging him there. or tying him up and then hanging him there, he killed himself.

Whether we are embracing our inner socialist or our inner capitalist is irrelevent. The worst thing you've ever experienced is the worst thing you've ever experienced. It doesn't matter if your "worst thing" is as bad as your neighbors -- you're not your neighbor so yours is all you have. For some, it breaks them. Dissing someone elses pain is stupid. Sorry, it is. Even if they're a weenie-whiney-pee-pants-elitist-primadonna, it's still stupid because for them, it is still their pain. There's a reason why we have separate words for emotions and logic.

So is he a douche for killing himself? You don't know and you're not in a position to judge. We are trained to believe from the very beginning that it's always wrong and selfish, and I believe that almost every time it is. But how often are words like "always" and "never" truly accurate?

People are killing themselves left and right on accident to be thin or beautiful or young. Shall we hate them, too?

Frankly, all that hate seems like an unfortunate use of time and energy to me. But, you know, maybe that's just me. *shrugs*

That makes a lot of sense, and I agree with everything you said, but serial killers are often really nice and upstanding in the community as well. We don't know all the facts, but I'm leaning towards a guilty conscience.

I'll break it down like this:

If he killed himself out of guilt and really did have a major hand in this whole fiasco, then I'm glad he's gone.
