X gear is a wrapper that makes it possible to run for example amplitube 2's fender head with amplitube metal's cabinet. It doesn't do anything on it's own.

you sure it recognizes cracked versions of Amplitube? Or even worse, maybe it REPORTS cracked versions of Amplitube?

I barely use Amplitube at all, thats from my old Ultimate Guitar days TSE and LE465 do everything I need

i still use it just for the ba-500, probably the best free bass option out there. just in case you're wondering why it doesn't work as vst, you have to download a seperate update to get the .dll.

Put some recab ampeg IR's after it and it sounds pretty damn good!

Amplitube 3 now performs the duties of X-Gear, unless I'm mistaken. It has everything from all previous AT versions like AT2 and AT Metal, plus new stuff, and if I understood correctly, if you get AT Ampeg and/or Fender, you can open them up within AT3 and mix and match, much like you could with X-Gear.
