The Iron Cobras come with one-sided beaters. Turning it around won't give a solid surface to hit onto the drumhead.

You might be thinking of the Pearl or DW pedals.

this. I didnt know it and the drummer went out and bought another beater (was playing with mismatched beaters for years =/) and thats when I realized you cant flip them around. If I would have known, I would have just told him to get 2 plastic or wood ones since we will need that click.

Taped the pillow down because it would always flop away from the head.
Mic is Shure Beta 52 I think? its the one that comes in the drum mic kit....3 57s and a Beta 52 I believe. Might try a 57 and see how that sounds as someone here said they get good results with one for kick.
