Hi, guys! This is my first thread here. I would like to share some snare samples with you. They are a mix of various free samples processed by me (thanks to pjcohen and Charles J for the original ones). Only 8 hard hits, in WAV 24bit 44.1kHz. Let me know your impressions.

I hope you enjoy them.

nice. can you tell us a little bit more about the processing?

OK, let's go. Each sample is a mix of 3 snares:

*Snare 1 - CJWall snare, available at: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/...tiful-metal-snare-samples-charles-j-wall.html (snares 1 or 2)

*Snare 2 - Stereo Processed Snare Drum 1 or 2, by pjcohen, available at: https://www.freesound.org/people/pjcohen/packs/2902/

*Snare 3 - a mix of 5 snares by pjcohen: Craviotto Steambent (http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/backline/797141-new-craviotto-snare-samples.html), DDrum Dios (http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/andy-sneap/791517-two-new-free-snare-sample-sets.html), Maple 10 ply (http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/andy-sneap/791561-custom-10-ply-maple-snare-samples.html), Mahogany steambent (http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/andy-sneap/750426-custom-mahogany-snare-samples.html), and finally Black Walnut steambent (http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/andy-sneap/791532-custom-black-walnut-snare-samples.html). I used the crack samples, left or right.

Processing:

*Snare 1: multiband compressor as low shelf at 150Hz with threshold of -60dB, ratio of 50:1 and attack/release of 0ms, to reduce the low frequencies without change the tone excessively; decrease the volume at 0dB peak (the multiband compressor generates a big clipped transient).

*Snare 2: nothing to do.

*Snare 3: invert the phase of Craviotto, Mahogany and Black Walnut (they are phase-flipped comparing with the other snares); mix all the 5 snares and reduce the volume at 0dB peak; low shelf EQ of -3dB at 1kHz and peak EQ of +3dB with Q factor 1 at 200Hz, to decrease the "woody" tone without reduce the body; compression with threshold of -20dB, ratio of 50:1, attack of 0ms and release of 1,000ms to increase the "tail" of the snare without affect the stroke itself.

Each snare has 2 samples. Mix the 3 snares using each sample, resulting in 8 samples. Reduce the volume at 0dB, apply a limiter of -1.5dB just for "polish" the initial transient, and it's done. :loco:
