maybe when you are waiting for the special edition you can look at this tab :)

Ah, I just noticed that tab yesterday. I give you props for taking a stab at it, but what on earth have you been smoking that you think: "usually opeth tabs ... are in Drop D or Open D tuning" ??? You just posted on a site with hundreds of Opeth tabs, 90% of which are in standard E!

Porcelain Heart IS in Drop D, fwiw. And the verse riff is a blatant rip of Space Dyed Vest by Dream Theater. :goggly:

Yesterday I played Porcelain in 1-Step down, in Open Dm ( like ghost of perdition) and in Drop D.

Mikael should play it in Drop D or Open Dm but we hear that he let ring this part;

In Open Dm;
that's easier to let ring 3rd string here...

D-----------------------------------------------------|
A---------------let ring-----------------------let ring--|
F----------------0h2------------------------4--3--2---|
D---2/3---0----2-----2---/5---------------2--2--2--2-|
A---------------------------8--7----------------------|
D-------0-------------------------3--2----------------|

And also ve hear him sliding on the clip...

But in Dropped D

E-----------------------------------------------------|
B--------------let ring-----------------------let ring---|
G-----------------------0-------------------2--1--0---|
D---2/3-------------3----- 3---------------2--2--2--2-|
A----------5---5h7----7------7------------------------|
D-------0-----------------------3--2-------------------|

Doing

D-3
A-7
D-3

and letting it ring is harder than the other one. I dunno if Mikael can do it but I can't :D so i prefer Open Dm for playing it...

Yay! you're right it shows again that Mikael is more than a human :D He is God :D

Edit: In fact I tried it now and it worked with some concentration :P But still I stop G string while doing that chord...

Yes :) i know, just replayed you in the tab comments go read please ;)!

i simply told you that it was a little word mistake, i said "usually" but i wanted to say in "certain songs" and i said also to you to be less meticolous ;)

but no problem peace out!

however, i know that the song porcelain heart is originally tabbed and played in drop D, but since in my band we dont have 2 guitars to switch every time i made this tab in D standard, to make it easy for us to play it without retuning the guitar. It's simply a re-arrangement in another tuning but with the same notes! ; >

bye bye!
ps: oh, i didn't smoke : D

But I remembered something about Drop D;

On the clip we hear the ead guitar doing a lead part without picking...

On Open Dm or 1 Step Down it makes

d-----------------------------------|
a----0-5-7-8-7-5-0-5-7-8-5-0------|
f-----------------------------------|

Well, how do they do that WITHOUT picking on Drop D?

e-----------0-1-0-------0-1-0--
B--------3---------3---3------3
G-----2--------------2---------

how can they play that without picking?
