free wav editor to use with Reaper

It's always good to have free stuff. I always use free stuff over commercial stuff, if it's good enough. I'm a sucker for Open Source or freeware stuff, it's just awesome when they compete with giants like Microsoft (Open Office totally kicks ass for example!).

So I will check out Wavosaur for sure.

I also gave Reaper 3 a spin, the beta seems to be pretty good. Launched up CVPiano and toyed around a little, it felt pretty smooth. The glitch issue when stopping a playback seems to be resolved in Reaper 3, but it still lags when I click somewhere on the timeline, the "needle" doesn't move there immediately, it takes like almost a second for it to move, pretty fucking annoying.

Other than that, Reaper kills!

Do you have any MIDI controllers pluged in via USB drivers? I had such problem with my CME UF7 and the problem was using it with USB MIDI instead of my MOTU's MIDI IN port.

You may be on to something here mister.

I do have a CME M-Key, 49 key keyboard. But Reaper does this ALWAYS, even when the keyboard isn't even turned on. I don't even have a MIDI track with anything loaded or any monitoring anything, Reaper does this from the start of a new project.

I mean, I could live with it... for some reason it works more fluent when there is audio on the track where I'm clicking, but if I click on empty space, it takes about a second before it moves.

I'm not sure if it's worth buying Cubase or some shit just because there is some lag when I click outside any audio in the timeline... we'll see how annoying it gets :P But if you do know the solution, I'd gladly wanna know man!

Your description of the problem is exactly the same as mine. Have you tried to uncheck the CME as a problable MIDI Input? Or the controller isn't visible on Reaper preferences when it's turned off?

Hmmmm I'm not sure about this, I will have to get back on ya with it... not sure when I'll visit my rehearsal place again but I'll make sure to check it out, thanks for the tip dude!

But even if the keyboard is the problem, it's a bug with Reaper since it doesn't affect for example Ableton Live. Guess they're aware of it but maybe I should on the Reaper forum.

So anyway... I'll see if it's the CME driver, and change to my M-Audio's MIDI instead if it's not already.
