You suggest a system of justice predicated on "gut feeling" rather than reasoned arguments? Sadly, this is often how a jury actually works, at least in this country. I have no experience with Canadian juries. If this man is convicted without evidence, as you say, then it would be only the "gut feeling" of his peers that put him in prison.
All I am suggesting is that forming an opinion on a case you are not involved in the investigation or criminal proceedings of, based on information gleaned from internet news sources, is somewhat silly.
