From mars to Sirius.

No, other than they were using Recto's at the time, and that it's fucking amazing.

I like this production because it's really unique. It contains absolutely non of the contemporary trends. It's an odd mix at times, it's ugly and wrestles with itself a lot, in a way that just makes it really stand out. Heaviest Matter of The Universe seriously is the heaviest song ever written, ever, period.

As i know on the From Mars To Sirius it's a TS boosted 5150. The older ones where with Rectos. And on the Way Of all Flesh they used a 5150III.

It sounds like the cymbals were recorded seperately to the drums at the start of flying whales. Or am I tripping balls on m iPhone?

I don't get why people complain about this album, it sounds HUGE to me. I love how mid based/"washy" the guitars are. The whole album just sounds so atmospheric and almost industrial?

I wouldn't think so. Mario is plenty talented enough as a drummer to tap a few cymbals while playing a tom groove.

Edit: Fucking LOVE this record. True it doesn't have as clinically 'perfect' a mix as TWOAF, but god damn, it's got vibe for days. So heavy.

It's hard to find producing infos about this record.
I just know it was produced by Laurentx Etxemendi at Studio des Milans, like the 2 first records (a little structure / studio next to basque country).

Are you sure about that, dude? I'm pretty sure it was Recto (it even sounds 100% Recto) and on Way of All Flesh it was just a standard Mk1 5150 in the end (they started using the EVH 5150III live after that record, though, but not on that album).

Album was DEFINITELY Recto, older 2ch. TLM103 on the cab, which I think was a 1960a. Don't quote me on the cabinet, though.

TWOAF is 5150III, Peavey 5150 cab, AKG414, straight from Joe's mouth.

Not 100% sure. I read it at sevenstring.org some time ago. As i remember someone over there got that info by talking to the musicians after a concert. For myself i recognize a big difference in the guitar sound beetween Terra incognita/Link and FMTS and TWOAF so i guessed it would be correct.

i don't find the post anymore but i have found this over here..i seem to be wrong

I'm a bit skeptical about this album being a 1960A, doesn't have that high mid character that the cab is really known for, too smooth. It's also pretty surprising to see it's a Recto, once again with the smoothness.

I heard that it was a Jackson Soloist with a JB through 5150 through a Marshall 1960 with V30's, no boost and the Peavey's Red channel gain on 10.

Flying Whales is the height of that album for me, I get stupid when the breakdown hits.

They used the 5150's with gain on 10 and Marshall cabs on their first one or two US tours, but definitely not on the album.

Jackson SLS with JB has been used consistently for about everything, stock LP for the older stuff.

I don't know what they use but I did a backbone cover with VST ampsim and IR, sound pretty close to me lol.
you guys can have a litsten. (the vocal is shit tho, please don't mind )

I fucking love From Mar to Sirius , everything in it, the song the production, the everything.
I love the way of all flesh too, love the song but not so much about the production, it's too clean, too polished for them.
me thinks they could use a dirtier mix like From Mars to Sirius.

Heaviest Matter of The Universe

JESUS CHRIST what an incredible song, first time I've heard it - why the fuck did Joe pretty much eliminate this style of singing on TWoaF (I always love pronouncing that "twoaf", like "loaf" haha), which is all I'd heard of them before now; it's so freakin' awesome, and honestly adds that perfect bit of melody that I always felt was missing - must buy album NAO

One of my all time favorite metal albums. xcore bands WISH they could be this brutally heavy.

I need to get the album sleeve out and see what amp company they credit in it...
