From mars to Sirius.

Afraid I'll have to disagree with you, Ermz. I find the weird mids to be one of the biggest contributors to the heaviness of the album. It makes me wanna smash my face through a concrete wall.. In a good way.

As promised, from the album sleeve:

Gojira use: Tama/Zildjian/Jackson/Fender/SWR/Volcom/Eastpack/ Fallen

No mention of guitar amps there :(

+1, I'd have to say the midrange is what really makes this production stand out.

this record sounds AMAZING....my first time hearing it actually as I'm not the biggest Gojira fan but this shit ROCKS...

The Way of All Flesh is still a benchmark in metal production for ME, at least.... can't wait to spin this in the studio!

Figured you would dig FMTS, Very pissed off, and angry mix

interesting thread... didn't know anyone could dislike anything about this album's mix haha. one of my all time favorites with the perfect guitar tone for the mood of the music. Recto though? really doesn't sound that way to me... I thought it was a 5150 with just the right cab and mic combo to smooth it out.

was a fan of these guys ever since I saw them open for Lamb of God and Machine Head way back when. I was going to skip their set because they were just "some french death metal band" and their single at the time was To Sirius, which really didn't sell the album all that well. I showed up just in time to hear the intro to Heaviest Matter.. heard the pinch harmonic in the intro, instant fan, have never looked back hah

Gojira with Car Bomb opening is probably the best show I've ever been to. I know we are all about recorded music here but Gojira has incredibly sick tone live too. even at LoG where they were first band up and probably had no time to sound check they sounded great.
