Hey all,

It's literally been years since I've posted anything in the review forum.

So here goes, Perpetuate's last song ever, "Defy You."

Tracked with real drums (except kick) real vocals, and NO FUCKING AUTOTUNE ANYWHERE. I took a stand and uninstalled my pitch correction. I realized that absolutely none of my favorite records have any autotune on them at all. So, out it goes. Hearing people sing is what makes music interesting. That's my opinion, anyway. I'm sick of hearing pitch correction ruin good songs.

Anyway, now that that little rant is out of the way, here it is... it's only a soundcloud player, so sorry for the low-rez... It's the only copy I have permission to share, so no hi-rez player on my site.

If anyone has heard this band before, I'm sure they'll realize just how far the singer has come in terms of power. Her voice isn't for everyone, but I'm proud of just how much effort she put into learning a new vocal style.

If you go on this page and check out the "Chrysalis" single, which was done back in 2009, it's a shocking difference.

Sounds cool Glenn!
I remember the other band (or did they change the name?), and that it was a pitty that she didn't give more balls to the performance.
It works a lot better now, altho I'm not a huge fan of that "nasal screaming" style, but it's cool if she gives it balls that way.

Also yeah, fuck autotune, at least for the way it's mostly beeing used these days.
Personally I'd rather tune a note that was a few cents of in a take that had an awesome and perfect attitude. If it even needed tuning.

Shait! Nice to see you around here also!
I've had a serious break from here also for almost 2 years if i remember correctly :D
Really good sounding stuff, really. Unbelievable singer! It's really highly respectable and speaks really out for the bands gig performance.
Good good job!

Props for a singer that doesnt need auto tune!lol
The voice it´s not sitting very well in the mix, lacks body in her voice, there is also that cardboard frequencies that makes her voice a bit annoying.

That's most likely the soundcloud encoding... it changed the guitars enough to be annoying, and there's artifacting in the cymbals as well. The full mix is quite a bit nicer.

The vocal chain was a 1982 u-87, Great River Mp2nv, and Distressor. Certainly no "cardboard frequencies" there. Ugh... i hate soundcloud.... but, at least it's better than the old MySpace encoder :)

The band has the full-rez song for sale on iTunes, so I have to respect that & not post a full-rez stream.

But thanks very much for the feedback guys!

Sounds great and it's always cool to hear a vocalist who doesn't need autotune. Vocals might sit better with overcompression and decapitator. :)

This female fronted power metal genre always reminds me of those great 80-90s action series themes. F.ex:

:D ZORROOOOOO!!!!!
