Well, for me, it's about being a minimalist lately.. I just want to emmulate a slammin mix. No need to over complicate things.. All I've been using on my guitars have been surgical EQ, and some times a limiter.

Anyways, the actual amp settings was something like

pre-3

low-7

mid-4

high-5

post- 6

res- 6

pres-8.5

All that with a nice solid take makes guitars scream!

Drums are all sampled from the drummers kit, kick is replaced, snare is 99% real (I tidied up a few gimpy hits)!

Damn... these dudes, especially the singer, are really something extra! Like someone said about them being a bit BMTH-ish, in a way they are, but in another way they aren't. BMTH have their ball-slamming, new school breakdown-oriented hardcore + their "thing", and so do these dudes. Mix-wise: kjhgfdloäöå'äölkjhgfhjklöä'jkhgfyuiopå¨pgfhjulo sorry, that was just me wiping some jizz off my keyboard.

Seems like a very solid and tight mix, good job. Punchy drums and a nice guitar tone, everything fits well. Not that much into how the vocalist sounds though.

Mix sounds fucking insane...

Are you using analog console sims? Slate VCC.. Nebula... ? If so where?

Also did you use ANY additive EQ to the guitars!?

Thanks dude. Unfortunately I do think that's partly the music/vocalist when it comes to loosing the intensity. To me, I love the vocals.. like a ton, because they are pretty damn raw, powerful, angry, and mean, but he doesn't do much more than that... So it does indeed get a bit fatiguing, which to me was a bit difficult to compensate for, because this song seems to have such an intense beginning, then sorta loses momentum, regains it a bit, loses it again, then ends pretty sweet haha. I guess essentially the songwriting could be a little more thought out. I'm excited though because I think I'm working with them again soon where they'll allow me to produce a little, rather than just engineering and mixing.

I'm really diggin' the whole mix. Is the snare replaced? You said 99% real, but I'm just having a hard time convincing myself that it is! Must've been a solid drummer. How did you get it so "in your face" without bringing out any bleed?

Guitars sound great. I'm definitely going to try out that miking setup on a project I'm working on.

Vocals are NASTY! Yes! I really like them.

This is a great sounding mix. A little eq tweaking here and there and I'd really love to hear the final product.
My mixes could learn a lot from yours! Haha... You should make a video of a mixing session one day.

always love your latest mixes dude... sounds BRUTAL. the song is all about the vocal and this dude delivers.. the music, well, not so much. as mentioned above it's like 'fuck yeah, this is awesome!!!!' and then it kinda just disappears into the background.

nothing that's your fault. when you get to actually PRODUCE and help ARRANGE the songs is when shit gets real
