Yesterday at work during our shift changeover, we're all watching the news as a special report on negar gangs hits the screen. "Yo yo yo I'm from Sout Centro" proclaims the negar with a red bandana over his gnat filled fly trap. At this point my negar co-worker exclaims "hey dat's my cousin!", in a jokingly manner. The filthy sickle cell charcoaled cholo continues, "I have to protect my own from all da red hoovers in my hood". I ask, "what the hell is a red hoover?" To which a separate negar co-worker offers the answer of, "Yo neva heard of Hoover street bro? Well a red hoova be a gang member from dat area." I reply, "The only Hoover I know of is Herbert". My Supervisor who happens to be a white stallion of the senior citizen circuit adds, "that's the only one I wish to remember."
