Does Göteborg/Gothenburg mean Gothic City?

before sweden became sweden, and possibly some time after that as well, the area was divided into "tribes" (i'm not sure that's a good word for it, but you understand what i mean), among them "götar". as far as i know they had absolutely nothing more than a somewhat similar name to do with the goths, though.
