In fact, I think you're missing my point. My point is not to deny rights based on history, but to understand the definition of marriage based on history, biology, evolution and society, and to think about how it applies to this situation. Based on that definition, there is nothing to preclude blacks from marrying. Thus it was something else (bigotry) that gave someone the idea that they had some right to restrict blacks in that way. Homosexual unions, on the other hand, stray from that definition. That is my only point.

I really don't see anything wrong with gays not being allowed to marry. They should be allowed to gain the same benefits as a married heterosexual couple, but if the Christian church doesn't want to allow gays to marry in their religion, why should they?

Whether or not they are being allowed to marry by the church is not the issue. The issue is that they are not being allowed to marry by the law. Marriage is not an exclusively Christian institution.

I think you misunderstood me. Just because i don't think a cult should have to let people who doesn't fullfill it's cult acquirements take part of it's cult rites doesn't mean i support it. I'm questioning why someone who according to a cult's rules is trash would like to take part of it's rites to start with.
