Get Right with the Man

Fuck. I was scanning through channels a couple of weeks ago & saw the Van Zant video clip for Help Somebody. It was something else. More of country feel than southern rock, I had to check it out. I hit up my boy at Sony/Bmg for a review copy. I can't say enough about this record, it's mellow country rock, but it's a change of pace from the ear shaterring stuff like Nevermore, which has dominated time in the cd players. Pick this record up if you're a fan of southern rock or country music, that's not contemporary. I'll be doing a review for this for Sludge, maybe even for "your reviews." Stay tuned....

I'm a little surprised to hear you praising this one, sir. I think that guy with the dangling earring and the freak hat looks so much like Barry Gibb that it's all I can do to hold my lunch down while sitting through the video...I think the song is "ok"...but since you feel strongly about it maybe I'll give it another shot? At least we agree on the Shooter Jennings disc!

Shooter Jennings WILL be in my top 10 records of 2005 along side Nevermore, Force of Evil, ect. It's that great! Give the Van Zant record a try, it's pretty damn good. It won't touch Shooter's but still damn good. By the way, heard anything off the new Dwight Yoakam?! I have heard zilch though he's been on ever late night show plugging the record. How about that fucking Marty Stewart's new record? What the title, Badlands?! I see he hasn't rid himself of that "planet of the apes" hair cut, but how's the record?!

Marty and his "do"! Planet of the Apes! Doh! I laughed on that one! Anyways...I haven't heard much on Marty's album but I know it's to do with Indians, etc...maybe it's good? He's sort of hit or miss...he's had some great songs but some SHIT on a stick, too, like "Hillbilly Rock". DWIGHT YOAKAM is one of my alltime favs. My favorite Dwight album will always be "If There Was A Way" and this one is a bit back in that style...it's no, "Guitars, Cadillacs" but it is a lot better than the last platter he put out. But I don't think Dwight's put out anything awful...just some have more filler than others..but there's always a good song or two. Tell ya who I like right now as far as new albums go is Alan Jackson. He's no Merle Haggard, but he keeps the traditional country sound alive as good or better than Dwight...I love the guitarist's twang..a lot like old Cash.
