Hey guys,

This may be a n00b question. And I tried to avoid it at all costs, but could not find what i was looking for. So i finally got a mix that I'm decently happy with for once. But as everyone else asks "its not loud enough" etc. That is obvious. But also, i know there are some finishing touches to be had. From everything I've read, this is where you separate mixing from mastering.

Well, with that, I do not know where to even begin :/ I read through some forums etc and tried following anything i could find. Only thing i tried was to compress the master and do slight limiting. This gave it a little more volume, but the quality went down. Tried a bit of combinations of the both, but nothing seemed to work. Either pumping, crappy distortion, or strangely ended up quieter than before.

Can someone help me get on the right track?

I feel a bit dumb now honestly. I've found a few different mastering threads here, GuitarAmpModeling, HomeRecordingForums, and GearSlutz, but nothing really helped. After posting this, I did however find a couple articles on compression. Which made it make more sense. I'll get to reading that link though, thanks man!
