Godflesh "Us and Them"

I love "Streetcleaner", but I'm generally wary of the genre. Will I like the above album?

You might, though it's nothing like Streetcleaner. If you want Streetcleaner's sound, go with the self-titled debut and Slavestate.

Us and Them is the biggest departure Godflesh took. It is like metal meets noise meets drum-n-bass. It took some getting used to for me.

Pure is also similar to the traditional Godflesh sound.

I hear the mastermind behind Godflesh, Justin something, has a new solo cd out called Jesu.

yeah, I used to have God's "Possession" album. THat thing was freakin' insane.

This thread made me go and pull all of the Godflesh that I own off of the shelf.

The title track from Us and Them is awesome, very trancelike, classic Godflesh.

Out of what I own, this is how I rank 'em.

Pure
Songs Of Love and Hate
Selfless
Us and Them
Hymns
Cold World
Merciless

yeah, Pure was very good, too. I don't know, but I could never get into Selfless and Merciless. THose two just kinda got on my nerves.

But I love Streetcleaner and Slavestate. The self-titled is like Streetcleaner, only more raw, stripped-down and dirtier.

Us and THem, SOngs of Love and Hate, and Hymns were all good, too.

I don't listen to Merciless very much... but Selfless, thoroughly enjoyable. "Crush My Soul" is heavy as fuck.
