Gods to the Godless...

Nemtheanga would agree on this statement btw
Somewhat meaningless. There are many, many musicians who don't think their music has surpassed the music of their influences. However, that doesn't make it so. For instance, comparing Bathory's lyrics to Primordial's is just crazyy. Nemtheanga's lyrics are pure, brilliant poetry. While Bathory's lyrics, while maybe original in subject matter, are quite simple. The drumming in Primordial is light years ahead of Bathory. I also think Nemtheanga's vocals are vastly superior to Q's.

Look, I'm not interested in making this a Bathory vs. Primoridal discussion. I know how much you guys dig Bathory, and I can respect that.

Nemtheanga is more of a poet, Quorthon was more of a lyricist. It's a fine line. [/erik]

But seriously, if Nemtheanga published a notebook of poems, I'd read it.

By the way, I can't list fave Primordial songs in any order, but a couple of comments:

(a) "The Burning Season" is EXCELLENT. The section beginning at around 3:40m is pure excellence. In fact, it reminds me a lot of the riffing style on DRUDKH's Autumn Aurora ("Wind of the Night Forests" anyone? I knew there was a reason that was my fave Drudkh track).

(b) "And the Sun set on Life forever" on The Burning Season EP is different to "Let the Sun set on Life forever" from Imrama. I've not heard the latter version, but the former is indeed fucking EXCELLENT. Obviously very epic with a glorious intro only to be reprised again at around the 6:00m mark....ugh, this band is impossibly great.

You guys are a bunch of fuckin knobs if you think Gods to the Godless is the best song on StEA! KNOBS i tells ya!

a) The Soul Must Sleep f'in rules.
b) The Cruel Sea -- awesome.

NOTE:

Willy 'Erik' Wonka posts first.

Oompa Loompas follow. :loco:

New RC rule: for future band polls, Erik should vote last. :tickled:

Well I'd still like an explanation. Peferably with a small diagram. Diagram preferably by Erik. And it has to include the words "Here be dragons"
